As an architect, every part of my professional being longs for this device: sketching on nano-texture without the need for silly paper-like screen savers, reviewing and redlining large drawings, conducting 3D studies, performing onsite LIDAR measurements, explaining details to craftsmen on the construction site without dealing with shiny reflections, carrying less weight, and having the entire project documentation, including extensive picture catalogs, always on hand. This is perfect and not overdone. It's a versatile professional device for professional use cases, plain and simple. Yes, much of this is possible with my M1 iPad Pro, but many of my other tasks could also be done on an Intel Mac or even a Windows machine. However, would I even consider that? I’m not chiseling my sketches… ok, one could probably argue that 1000 nits aren’t enough to work in broad daylight, or contrasts are little dull compared to the glossy finish. When I stand in a group of people around me, explaining some details of a drawing or picture, one always can’t see properly because of reflections. This won’t happen with the nano texture glass. Either Apple is not making enough changes or they're making too many changes, no one can ever be happy. Let's give these engineers and designers at apple some credit once in a while. The Apple Pencil was completely redesigned on the inside, they added gyroscopes, haptic engines, find my capability, a new charging system. And yeah they had to keep the charging in the same exact spot because of orientation, ease of use and aesthetics. 1.Most people are right handed and so it would need to stay on the right side for portrait mode and 2. It stays attached better and is more easily accessible for grabbing when it's on top and in landscape mode. 3.if it was off to one side or the other it would look weird asf. You know Apple is all about Aesthetics.

Hey, I'd love to join the conversation.
Firstly, I think Apple always considers their design language in every device. Since 2018, with the Apple Pencil 2, they have consistently placed the Apple Pencil in the same spot. I believe that changing its placement would disrupt their design language, and that's why Apple has maintained this. (If they wanted to restrict the use of Apple Pencil Pro only to the latest iPad models, they would have done so without excuses.)
Secondly, I believe that the decision to make the iPad thinner was not to boast about having the thinnest device, but rather to make it easier to hold for longer periods compared to its predecessors. Additionally, by making it thinner and lighter, they were able to make the Magic Keyboard much lighter as well.
These are my thoughts on this.

For me, lighter is better on a tablet. Yes, if you use it in a keyboard case all the time, you may not notice, but those that use it as tablet and hold it in hand for long periods, the lighter the better, especially on the 13 inch. Less weight means it's less unwieldy in hand. Obviously, battery power is always nice to have, but it gets 10 hours (even better in most tests I have seen) which is more than enough for most use cases. Portable batteries can fill the gap for those people that are away from a charger and are using it for more than 10 hours.

Notice how the only reason to upgrade your iPad is the screen quality, the Air has a slightly better screen than the 10th gen regular iPad, and the Pros have OLED now
Other than that, nothing matters about iPads at all, you just want a way to read documents, an alternative to watchung stuff on your TV a nice way to draw things if you're an artist, and nothing more than that. And the current line up has been good for that for AGES at this point.

Your products are now useless" is a very bad move.

  • @Black7308
    @Black7308 Před měsícem +4

The magnet placement for the new pencil wouldn’t make sense to put on the other side or even on both sides. The magnets had to be redesigned with the new landscape camera in mind. So a new pencil with new magnet placement had to be made.
If you put the old magnets on the other side it’s inconsistent to have different magnets on each side. Folio case would not work, you’d have a pencil snapping to the bottom side of the iPad on the Magic Keyboard. Their approach had to be done the way it was because you don’t want to train your user base to snap an older designed pencil on the incorrect side and open yourself up for criticism that the pencil doesn’t work with the other accessories for the iPad.
Yes it happens to be convenient for Apple’s bottom line that new iPad means you have to re-buy new accessories(frustrating as an M2 owner with Magic Keyboard and Pencil), but the reasoning why it had to be that way is sound.

But nah “thin new ipad” is the slogan because they’re running out of ideas to innovate this obsoleting device unless it gets proper desktop apps and controls

Although it sounded like Apple invented or used the technology first, Tandem OLED was already used on a cellphone called "Honor Magic6 RSR" in March, and Apple just took the credit.

8GB or 16GB Ram for iPad Pro?
I’ll be using my iPad for surfing web, emails, scrolling Facebook/Twitter and Netflix. I also want to be prepared for iPadOS 18 AI features.
Please help me decide - 8GB or 16GB ram?

Great video. This is the reality of "form over function". The aesthetic and visual appeal of a the iPad Pro design is given priority over its practical purpose and functionality. No Apps can take advantage of the powerful CPU. So performance is not really a factor? Just the same iPad just "thinner" with a "new`'pencil. Running the same Apps, for a higher price! Good luck Apple!

The OLED screen is actually a substantial upgrade. I hated the blooming the iPad 12.9 with mini LED had, it made some parts of movies and tv shows almost unwatchable as it would almost look blotchy and flickering when scenes would happen with dark backgrounds. I’m happy with the upgrade, yes it’s an over powered iPad that runs iOS, so what. Not everyone wants Mac OS. I enjoy iPad os, it’s smooth and easy to multitask when I need to.

Marques, you are not the demographic for this device hate to break it to you. A "pro" iPad Pro user is climbing telephone poles needing statistics, a doctor needing 3d scans in the field right next to their patient during surgery, a musician who needs a touch based os to manipulate sound, or a calligraphy artist who needs tilt, barrel roll and hover to see exactly where their line will be before they write it and can get the exact thickness and fine lines. 3D modeling, animation, the list goes on... Anyone that requires an intimate touch based OS. This, is Apples target demographic. They made it thinner for THESE pro users. You my friend would fall under the category of a "pro" traditional computer user, where keyboard shortcuts, complex plug ins and tandem software running, coding, etc. anything designed for a keyboard and mouse based input basically. These are traditional ways we all know of doing work and it's okay to have leaned these ways very efficiently and fast and effective. But there's a touch based way of learning these tasks as well. yes it may not be as efficient (yet) but 99% of the time its just as effective, and you will get more efficient as time goes on. And I get it, It's hard to break habits and learning new software and creating new workflows but it' is possible. It's like going from a car to an electric motorcycle; little bit of a learning curve, and may I say dedication and a little talent?. But it's also possible to use these two devices together in tandem. For example, most the time my iPad pro is on a stand next to my mac and I use it as a sidekick and portable computer when I'm not at my desk. I can start making music on my iPad in logic and then finish mixing and mastering on my mac. I also work with designs and 3d modeling and i use my iPad pro solely for those projects. I use my mac for certain "pro" things and my iPad for OTHER "pro" things. And that's fine with me, I'm not too sure why everyone wants an all in one. I would personally hate doing any type of huge file management project, or multi frame video editing, or really anything that requires multiple screens or a larger screen on an iPad. It just comes down to thinking what the best case scenario for these devices are, and if your workflow falls under those categories or not.

He’s mad that Apple won’t allow Mac iOS on an iPad. They will eventually . But it will be an Apple pro extra and it will cost 5 thousand dollars for the base model. Multi millionaire Google employees (CZcamsrs) would be just fine with that price point. Tech that only they can afford.

Just because Apple calls some of their hardware "Pro", doesn't make the hardware for professionals.
All the points made by OP, are either total overkill with an Ipad Pro or underwhelmingly unsuitable for the job.

A computer, large monitor, and a Wacom blow the iPad Pro away for truly Pro design, modeling. iPad Pro can’t change the fact it’s only 13” max, has limited software, and a slippery screen (w/o paper like). It’s nice for mobility and lighter work. It would be like somebody talking about how good the gaming is on an iPad. It simply cannot compare to a Windows desktop or console hooked up to a large screen

why are they even making iOS and A series iPhone chips if they can fit that kind of power into a chip the size of the M series chips and an OS that basically mimics iOS/MacOS across all of Apples devices? For that Matter why arent they all just running one uniform OS that just does updates specifically for each device when a new update goes live over the air? Genuniely curious so looking for the tech heads in the comments who are smarter than me and can help provide insight into techincal/hardware constraints beyond things that are solvable through engineering/ingenuity (that this company literally rode to a trillion dollar valuation) because I just don't get why they don't make it one cohesive OS or why they don't slap an M4 chip into the next iPhone and call it a day on questioning which phone has the best specs.
