  • Learn in this video, how you can use valuable functions of the BMW Motorrad Connected App via the Multi-Controller and the MENU rocker button with the optional ConnectedRide Cradle. Any BMW motorbike with the optional equipment “Navigation Preparation“ can be fitted with the ConnectedRide Cradle. First you need to adapt the ConnectedRide cradle to your smartphone size. Your dealer can provide you with details about compatible smartphones. Or look it up in the FAQ on the BMW Motorrad website. Removing bulky smartphone cases ensures a tighter safer fit of the ConnectedRideCradle. Untighten the screw and extend the arms. Slide your smartphone in from the top: Screen towards you - charging port typically to the right. Now close both arms by holding the upper arm and the button on the lower arm and tightening the screw again. Unlock the navigation preparation with your vehicle key and open the bracket. Insert der ConnectedRide Cradle by clicking it in with the bottom side first. A green LED indicates briefly when the ConnectedRide Cradle is active. Push in the bracket and lock the navigation preparation. Pull down the bottom arm of the ConnectedRide Cradle to take out your phone.

Warning. While the Cradle worked well for me, the bottom arm just broke last week. This is a very thin piece of plastic and it snapped at the base of the U shape, on both sides simultaneously. I purchased it less than a year ago, used it maybe a total of 12 times (not needed for daily commutes). With this piece broken the phone is not secured and the whole cradle is useless. I would not recommend this very expensive accessory based on this.

I've got a complaint about ConnectedRide Cradle. Unfortunately, my phone just flipped off from the cradle while I was riding at 85 mph on the highway with my S1000XR. My old phone had a curvy structure (Samsung S22 Ultra) on the edges. I had to buy a new phone, which was Samsung S23 Ultra. I've applied a small pressure like assuming wind is coming below the phone, it is getting out easily. You need to produce a lot way better cradle to hold any type of phone (curvy edges) on the market. Now I'm selling it. :( Please report this issue to your research and development department.

Without a case only, and due to a camera bump, wireless charging doesn't work, you need to use cable instead, having mixed feelings about it. I have several bikes with quad lock and don't want to remove phone from a case each ride. I'm deciding to buy either a navigator 7 or slimmer phone. Phone still have many advantages, like the option to use different app etc. I've already checked Samsung Galaxy 24, it have similar camera configuration as iphone does, but thinner. When I compared it side by side, Samsung camera lens ends up on iphone array's first bump. So in total it's a good 2,5mm thinner - combo s24 + peak design case could work. Problem is, they don't have the case in stock yet, it have been announced just recently and season is starting 😂.

Awesome idea, but you've forgotten one key thing! Vibration destroys the latest iPhones cameras, so your cradle 'must' have a built in vibration dampener designed into it (see Quad-locks version for instance) for it to be viable. It's a better solution that Honda's Apple Car Play/Android Auto, or Ducati's Sygic. But you've got to better protect people's very expensive iPhones, and they must be able to charge in your wireless cradle 'without' removing them from their protective outer covers when fitted.

Totally agreed, I have seen several cases where the vibrations destroyed the camera stabilization and becomes completely useless. I´m surprise BMW develops something like this without covering this issue by making a strong statement that they took this fact into consideration and developed a super product that protects the device against the natural bike vibration, especially for Adv bikes.

This is very much like the Navigator 6 and 5: Overpriced underperformance BMW GPS devices.
Cost me SGD480 (USD346 or EUR327) to hold my phone in place and charge it wirelessly--very slowly. Nothing else.
You can't use Google Maps!!! You must use the BMW Connected's downloadable maps. I use the bike in Japan: they don't provide a map for Japan.
If you want a GPS navigation, use your phone`s Google Maps: always up-to-date, reliable and fast... If you want a dedicated GPS navigation device, get something else and stay away from BMW Navigator 5, 6 and this cradle. For about USD50 you can get unbranded Chinese-made cradles that do the same thing and are compatible with the BMW docking (power source); they will allow you to use Google Maps, hold-in place and charge your phone.
Perhaps in Europe and USA the downloadable maps are high in detail and timely updated, but still, it is something of 20 years ago. Nobody download maps nowadays, they use Google Maps.
The bike info feature? It's the same as what you get on the Navigator 5 and 6... on your phone. Yeah, now you have the bike leaning angle indicator...Cool but uselese information.
The operation with that BMW counterintuitive scroll doughnut and up/down arrow switch is awkward at best, and is horrible with the cradle and the Connected app.. At the end you have to do things when you are stopped, not while riding.
It is frustrating to buy another BMW expensive device that delivers nothing. Once you start the Connected app, that is only what your phone can do. The app takes over, and you can`t get other apps or functions to work unless you shut down the BMW Connected app.
I had 6 bmw bikes so far, I loved each one of them, but BMW is terrible on the GPS navigation department. BMW:please give-up and focus on the wonderful bikes... Or get someone to do it right for you, like Google.

What a disappointment. Looks like you cannot use this with cases. It only has 7.5W charging and the mounting method is poorly designed. The cheap third party wireless charging mounts have a spring loaded mechanisms which allows for quick mounting and dismounting of your phone and they work with cases on. The connectivity features to control your phone via the wonder wheel do not require this mount to work, however BMW have locked the software so they are only activated if the mount is paired to the app. That is really poor from BMW if you ask me as they could enable this feature for any mount.
