    Your incredibly lucky to not only ride the cab, but to have such an informative and helpful driver. So nice he slowed down to allow you to film the abandoned station!

    My late father was a train operator for the Piccadilly line for almost 18 years, later moving on to becoming a station master at Caledonian Road. Thanks to this video, I got to experience what he would’ve seen.

    I live on an island in the middle of the South Pacific. No Trains here. So the ride along is so fascinating and love every minute of it.
    So amazing to see how the lines and tunnels cross, and abandoned stations.
    Hope to travel to London one day so the reason for jumping on here is to understand how the Train Network works...riding up front is a bonus.
    Also have the Tube Map as we ride along...So cool Thank you!

    Excellent cab ride. You had great interaction with driver, without being loud and annoying like some people in the cab filming are. I could actually bear listening to your convo! Also, your camera picked up the light in the tunnel well so we could see all the crossovers and disused parts, albeit with some minor focusing issues.

    Back in the late 1980s this was my route to work and you could feel (and hear) what I have just learned to be the crossover at the old York Road station but I never knew what it was because you couldn't see the station. It's really nice to see the old station up close, and I'm sure the ride in that section is a lot smoother and quieter now.

    You missed passing the remains of Osterley Park station which was abandoned when the Great West Road was built in the 30s and the new Osterley station built. Used to walk past the old station and then the extra half mile slog to the new one going to school in Hammersmith. Gutting.

    • @peterweatherley7669
      @peterweatherley7669 Před 6 měsíci

      So those aren’t fences, as such. They’re cable separators which, as the name implies, keep the power cables at a sufficient distance to prevent short-circuits in the event one should sag in an overload condition. Very ordinary by modern standards, but very much vital.

      leaf fall.. we had a really bad period of it and it messed up many trains.. i think we had only 25 running at one point so they cut loads down on the whole line to stop it from being an issue.. leaves on the track make it skid when you break which creates flats on the wheels which are loud when driving
