Probably just a defensive reaction as we were both caught by surprise. I reckon that he thought that I was a predator.
Perhaps we need the Great Whites back in town to keep these seals in check !

It actually bit the boat? Wow. That's crazy. There's a huge sea lion that hangs out in a certain spot on one of my favorite runs. It has charged me on occasion, but never tried to bite the boat. Amazing.
Believe it or not, but yesterday a young woman surf skier (world champ canoeist) was dragged out of her ski by a seal that inflicted a significant wound on her thigh. Unbloodybelievable !

hola Salami, I did not know that that ski was damaged until after the run. The puncture holes were above the water line but it did take in water as the nose tends to bury itself on the bigger runs. Ski going to hospital tomorrow. Adelante Zulu !!!!
Seals or Great Whites? Easy choice for me! That was some face plant by the seal, hope the boat is repaired soon.

Believe it or not, two days later, an 18 yr old young woman (recently crowned world doubles canoe champion in Hungary) was pulled out of her ski in the same area by a seal that inflicted serious wounds on her thigh !

What are you breathing through?
🤣 My gopro is mounted on a snorkel fitting that exaggerates the sound of my breathing. I have had both "in favour" comments and "do not like" comments (more of these i think). Does it put you off ?

Interestingly, mine is now the 4th ski to have been attacked/bitten in the last month or so. Not sure if you know that circa 18 months ago a spear-fisherman was repeatedly attacked by a seal just off Millers Point. It took both his flippers, took his speargun, repeatedly bit him (he attributed his survival to a brand new 5mm wet suit). At one stage he managed to drag himself up onto a rock and yet it zooted out of the water and carried on attacking him on the rock. I got off lightly !!
