    Absolutely true, as far as it goes...... As Limits to Growth : MIT shows the Industrial Civilization capitalist monopoly game has an end. This is calculated by actual real world goods and services, population, resources etc, to be OVER around 2040 plus or minus five years. WE must go beyond Domination by Force, to Democracy by Consensus : that is true Direct Democracy: voting of the the people by App : not representative democracy. ( which represents the capitalist ruling class ) . Reciprocal Trade in a Universal Economy with Universal Income, and no longer competition based crime which is unsustainable. Collapse is most likely before this occurs by Climate catastrophes and war. Hopefully we won't go extinct.

    How do you reform something that doesn’t want to be reformed which has hijacked the democratic system as the only lever that exists to reform it in the first place. Democracy is more important than capitalism, democracy is more important than anything else. The goal is to try and meet your economic needs in a way that doesn’t inevitably necessitate the hijacking of democracy.

    Yanis is a brilliant man. I however beg to disagree on this separation between state and capital when capitalism emerged.
    State was always necessarily entangled in the transformations that ushered in capitalism.... Both in dispossession and Imperialism.

    • @nicolasm400
      @nicolasm400 Před rokem

      capitalists from the beginning knew that capturing the state is key to ensure their rule. Not only does it add political power to their industrial power, but it prevents the emergence of a ''populist state'' that risks undermining the capitalist rule

    Amazon is a market place; it isn't a soviet system. They provide a platform for many companies to sell their products. Amazon does not dictate what products are made, what price those products must be sold at, etc.
    Amazon might have too much power as a market system, but Amazon does not represent centralized planning.

    • @burnzz69
      @burnzz69 Před rokem +10

      Amazon is a centralized entity that controls the space its platform offers to sell goods. its centralized power gives it an advantage to a fragmented competition. this power and these advantages are used to further its agenda to profit and reinvest in what it sees fit. what else was the soviet system, or any other ideologic system for that matter?

      Amazon doesn't.
      I agree Amazon has undue power over those that produce goods, just like Walmart exerts significant power over producers. But neither actually owns the means of production. (Walmart and Amazon compete with each other.)

    I don't know why people still listen to this guy. He almost destroyed Greece's economy as Minister of Economics, by trying to move to Drachme and ditch Euro. Fortunately he was sacked at the last moment and the worst was avoided. Greece really was in the brink of collapse because of his politics.
