Goku's weakness isn't his IQ, it's Toriyama writing without an editor on his ass. His IQ was fine during DB, DBZ and GT, it's just on Super when people started to believe that Toriyama was this god of writing that could have full creative control and didn't needed anyone to oversee his work that Goku turned more retarded than DBA Goku.
tbf a lot the Super anime's character exaggeration was on Toei's part. Toriyama himself mostly contributed plot outlines and character designs for the anime, while Toei's writers were responsible for most of the actual writing. The manga, which Toriyama's more involved with, does suffer from it too, but it usually hasn't been as egregious - keyword: usually.
He had even less involvement with GT too - his involvement mostly amounted to the name, some oversight over the series, and some early character designs and artwork. He wasn't even the one that designed Super Saiyan 4.
@@DeskoDev I'm not saying Toei is devoid of blame but if you compare the manga and anime the things they have in common is Toriyama since Manga is done by Toyotaro and Anime by Toei you'll see some parts with Goku being a retard making into both, like for example the kiss part, add to that that years earlier during the airing of DBZ anime Toei had Goku kissing Chichi of his own initiative during the Cell saga.
