- Professor Lawrence Datnoff, Dpt Head for Plant Pathology and Crop Physiology at Louisiana State University Agriculture Center, discusses the benefits of soluble silicon in terms of plant resistance to common biotic or abiotic stresses.
Information on Harsco's Silicon fertilizers is at www.crossover-s...
I really enjoyed that. It was helpful at gaining a more full understanding of the uses of silicon.
Thank you.
It works great! It helps max out out the plants potential.
I'm big into foliar feeding
Thank you for posting.
Can we use silicone powder for foliar spray?
If yes, then how to make solution?
How about seawater shrimp ponds ? what is the silica chemical compound can soluble in water ?
can we use sodium silicate for foliar spray?
1)What all (any micronutrients/ npk)can we mix potassium silicate with during foliar spray? As it is very alkaline, it has to be sprayed alone I suppose.
2) I hope it can be mixed with pesticides ( fungicides/ insecticide/ viride) while spraying... Please suggest ( fungicides etc don't alter the Ph of solution )
3) we should be spraying only after the the fruits have set, right? we shouldn't be spraying during the flowering stage right?
Please suggest
Hello Sir, I'm Erica from Haitor, China. I'd like to answer your questions:
1-2. Generally speaking, pH of silicate fertilizer can reach 8-11, so it must be spray alone. but, some company like us (Haitor, China)have developed a neutral silicon fertilizer, pH=7, so it can mix with other fertilizer(NPK/Micronutrients) or pesticides etc.
3. When to spray ? this question is due to the effect you wanna get, and different with different fruit and vegetables.
I'd like to discuss more with you if you like, you can reach me by: 005@haitor.cn, or whatsapp: 86-18253233350.

Would a liquid preparation of diatomaceous earth work?
How you liquided it ?
yes DE is a source of silica. grind it as much as possible for faster availability. rice hull has lots of silica. there is actually an industry that derives silica from rice hull which i burn to powder and i have silica for my plants
I wonder if liquid silica is good for cactus also!???
Somewhat effective but unnecessary
What is an optimal soil content for sillicate? 50 ppm? 100?
i was told 30-50ppm is good
