  • Hey beautiful! Originally this was just suppose to be a video of my first experience with a tangle teezer, but it ended up being a comparison video instead. I am so shook at the results I got and I am so glad that I took the time out to compare the tangle teezer to the denman brush because I had no idea I was losing so much hair. What do you use to detangle your hair?
    Thank you so much for your endless support! Be sure to subscribe to my channel and become apart of the family! Xoxo

    Evrery hair strand grows for a cycle of 3 to 7 years and then falls. And 3 months later a new hair strand replaces it. In average an afro hair strand grows for 3 years ( for women). Naturally fallen hair comes out with a white round head. Try to find it at one of the ends of the strand to see if it is a naturally fallen hair that has ended its growth cycle

      I use the knock off of that brush, called the horse brush or something. Bought it for a few bucks. I mainly use my seamless comb. Hercules. One side has fine tooth, the other side, this pointy wide tooth. Its less to do with the tool though, type 4 hair chicks need to be using a cream moisturizer under hair grease, if they want to stop having friction that causes breakage. I never have these issues on my 4c hair anymore. I LCG once a week. Tea water, soft and beautiful botanicals hair masque, and blue magic indian hemp. Sometimes I add other oils over the grease, but I don't need it. I never get matting. Ever. I also learned you do not need to wash your hair everytime you moisturize it(LCG). My wash day is 1-2 months. I retain so much length when I learned this. I used to get matting every 5 days. Now I just don't get it. At all. shed hair slides out. And it looks white when I apply it, but the next day its not, nor does it feel greasy. Also my 4c hair coils from the scalp to the tip and my edges have filled in. I band my hair in 4 sections, secure the back 2 sections in onthemselves into 2 mini buns. Then attatch the two front sections to the back. Result is 2 fake cornrolls. Then silk durag and wig cap and wig. I retain tons of length this way.

    Lord have mercy chile! This was painful to watch. The reason you're losing so much hair is because you're supposed to comb it first! Honestly speaking, neither one of those tools is appropriate for 4c hair. You need the kind of Denman brush that has balls on the tip of the bristles to smooth and detangle. I bought one from the Dollar Tree and had it for years. And instead of yanking it through from the root, use a gentler touch and smaller strokes when you feel resistance.

      Natiya Cisse OHH HELL NAW.... wet brushes and paddle brushes with the balls on the tip. are BAD for kinky hair, well at least imo and other peoples.... the balls on the tips, rip off a lot of hair off and gets tangled up easy in our kinky hair ( ironically) lol

    • @Nuut0306
      @Nuut0306 Před 5 lety +5

      The one I was talking about is called a vent brush. It's not that different from a Denman. The balls help it slide through wet hair. Technique is everything. Others have commented how her hair is not fully saturated and she even said "I'm used to the pain"

    The denman is a styling brush. It should be used after your hair is detangled to create defined curls.

    Can you answer a question for me? I’m a man with braids for like 5-6 months. This girl that does my hair I feel like she’s breaking my hair. She’ll tell me oh it’s dead hair. I understand some shedding but I honestly believe she’s breaking my hair being to rough. I know my hair I’m the one who takes it down. She combs my hair dry or loop wet. I got my hair did 2 days ago and noticed it was to much hair in the comb and my shirt. Can you tell me some good ways to prep my hair before letting her do it or some ways to help her help me? Cause I know I’m not wrong. My hair then grew passed my ears and like for a month or two it hasn’t grown.

    I've been using the tangle geezer on my 4c hair for about 6 years and it's been a godsend.
    I've never experienced damage or split ends with it. Just be reasonably gentle, finger detangle lightly first and do not use on completely dry hair.
    I recently made a video about how I modify my tangle teezer to make it even more gentler- check out my channel x

    I’ve been using the denman brush for 4 years. I might have to go order me a tangle teaser and see how it goes. I lose quite a bit of hair with the denman brush but haven’t thought anything of it until now.

  • @GlobalAdventurer

    This might be a stupid question, but shouldn't you use a comb to detangle first and then maybe the brush? I thought a comb is for detangling and brush is for styling. Isn't that correct?

    Tangle teaser damages your hair over time... 4c hair shouldn't be detangled while it's dry... Saturate your hair with a cheap conditioner and or oil then detangle...

    • @florafauna434
      @florafauna434 Před 5 lety +7

      I agree. I've used the tangle teezer from 2013-2017 and have noticed damage over time. When I first used it, it seemed to work great (easy to detangle, fast, convenient, etc.) and my hair looked perfectly fine, but over time, I began to notice that the condition of my hair was starting to take a nose dive. I somehow retained quite a bit of length, but about 4-6 in. of my ends were shredded and see-through (possibly also due to my iron deficiency anemia). In 2018, I decided to go back to using the old-school wide-tooth comb and occasional finger detangling. I will never use detangling brushes again!

      Yeah I detangle in smaller sections too with my wide teeth comb, then define the curls with my favorite product using the denman brush. If the brush doesn't go through, I don't force it at all. I just use my fingers lol.

    Girl, I have been natural since 2009 and when I first started my journey, I was using the tangle teezer on wet hair without any kind of butter or detangling product and my hair was thriving. Then I started watching all those natural hair care videos saying that we should finger detangle and use the denman brush and I just stopped using the tangle teezer and even forgot I had it. Now a few years later, I realized that my hair was soooo better off when I was just using the tangle teezer and all this finger detangling did nothing for my hair but making it less detangled and thus proned to single strand knots etc. I'm going back to using the teezer now! (I'm a 4c natural)
