  • Dr. Martin Lings (1909-2005) was a perennialist/traditionalist writer, editor and translator, as well as a scholar and teacher of Islamic mysticism (Sufism) and art, and of Shakespeare. He was Keeper of Oriental Manuscripts at the British Museum and the British Library for many years. Martin Lings was also a long-time associate of both Frithjof Schuon (1907-1998) and René Guénon (1886-1951).
