Located on the bluffs of the Mississippi River in St. Clair County, Dupo has an interesting history dating back to 1699. Originally named Prairie Du Pont, the town’s name was later shortened to Dupo.
Transportation is and was the backbone of the community here, thanks to the village’s proximity to the river, the railroad, and St. Louis. Union Pacific Railroad still runs through Dupo and Interstate 255 quickly connects residents to St. Louis.
However, one does not have to leave this small town for necessities and entertainment. Dupo has hair salons, a Dollar General Market, a mechanic, a library, and even a splash pad for summertime fun.
