In the Ramayana, Ravana is described as the eldest son of sage Vishrava and rakshasi Kaikesi. He abducted Prince Rama's wife, Sita, and took her to his kingdom of Lanka, where he held her in the Ashoka Vatika.

@@jaydutta7711 ravana's ego was the reason for his demise, had his sister not made the mistake of trying to entangle lakshman it would have never been the case. Ravana was a great man, but his character was flawed, but having said that his wisdom was unparalleled, his skills on the battlefield unmatched. in the end Ravana even agrees to his mistakes and seeks forgiveness by accepting the greatness of Ram, which thus led to his liberation. We can aspire to take the positives from him, in today's world the way of Ravana is the way of the world, but we need to imbibe the characteristics of Ram to kill the Ravana within and attain liberation.

His wrongdoings against innocent human beings, heavenly celestial beings, and animals are the real reasons for his deáth. His sister Shurpanakha's attempt to entangle Lakshman has nothing to do with Ravana abducting Mata Sita. Ravana abducted Mata Sita out of his lust for beautiful women, not as revenge for his sister. Ravana was not a great man; he wasn't even human. So, how could he be a great man like us humans? Ravan was a Rakshasa, i.e., a powerful demon who forcefully made celestial beings like devi-devtas his servants. Despite having evil wisdom and unmatched battlefield skills from boons granted by Lord Brahma, his actions were inherently malevolent. In the end, every Asura and Rakshasa acknowledge their mistakes, seek forgiveness, and accept the greatness of God, leading to their liberation from the material world. Ravana was no exception to this. Hence, in today's world, we cannot aspire to adopt the nonexistent positives from him, given that we lack Ravana's supernatural powers. @@Vashisthgameworld Don't ever dare to equate a criminal like Ravan with an AVATAR of Supreme God Vishnu, Lord Rama because Ravan's achievements are nothing compared to Lord Rama. Only blind people nowadays respect and worship ravan because they don't know that he never had any vast wisdom about the world, he was just a typical scholar and master in warmongering. So that's not how he impressed Shiva by living the kailish. Shiva was infact angry on Ravana for lifting Kailash... RAVANA made Shiv tandav stotram to ask for the mercy of Shiva. So that doesn't make him a big devout of lord Shiva.
Everything can be said for sure if you read the authentic scriptures of Valmiki Ramayana. Ravana definitely was an evil demón, not even a guy. It's just you guys who put a good label on him.
