With so many distractions on the road today, staying visible is the most important step a cyclist can take toward ensuring his or her safety. Flare R is the compact, rechargeable tail light that is visible from over 2km away even during daylight hours. - Sport
I've had my Flare R taillight for almost 1 year so far on my road bike. I do a lot of daytime riding, so I make sure I always have my lights turned on. ☺️👍
Convinced me that it works as advertised right out of the box. First ride with it tomorrow, my normal 2am commute. Already feel safer.
Thank you Bontrager.
I own this. Purchased three months ago from the local Trek dealer here in Tacoma, WA (Bike Tech). I use it mainly for daytime commuting, and it works as advertised. Conspicuity is amazing. The beam focuses in some magical way that makes it visible for blocks, in broad daylight. My only wish is that Bontrager would extend battery time by another hour or two on the brightest setting. I'd pay good money for that upgrade.
I bought this piece it's already awesome
I bought this and use it on my Emonda SL 6. Love it
I bought one of these a fortnight ago, and I'm very pleased with it. However, I'm never quite sure which mode I'm running. In a future version, it'd be great to have little numbers or symbols light up that made it clear.
I couldn't help noticing that most of the riders in the video were wearing black. I agree that a bright flashing tail light is essential riding gear but so too is highly visible clothing. I know that hi-vis gear is not cool and that black is the new orange but surely it's better to be seen than dead.
Kev Hennessy I agree with you totally. Although l don't have this light yet (but will soon) I wear a reflective vest both day and night. Here where l live in Connecticut cars never come anywhere near me. As a matter of fact l'm more concerned about them then myself because they ride so far over in the other lane. Both would be ideal, along with the front light.
I bought one. EXCELLENT taillight. Thanks to Trek/Bontrager.
How much it is
I'm sold. I've just bought it at my local Trek dealer here in Singapore 😀
very convincing!.....i was concidering a tail light but, now i will definitely buy one.....
Had three, unusable in winter /wet months, great flash pattern but needs higher ingres protection..
Where can i buy it in brazil or delivering to brazil?
will that strap work on the thin post of my bontrager dropper ? thx
Thanks for taking another step to keep cyclists safe on the road.
Cyclist could help themselves by not thinking they own the road and stay on the side of the road instead of in the middle and riding 4 and 5 wide
@@Blazeetwa Wow, you're an absolute idiot.
Great review I've just bought the 800 all the best JJ London U.K. 🚲🚲🚲
Solução ótima para grandes cidades vou colocar na minha lista
the frare r is for night ? someone tell me i have it and i thing is too bright when is a car behind me ..
My daytime rear light is 250 lumens with a wide enough pattern to easily cover the angles of all motorized traffic comes from. That's why I prefer Niterider (that's how it's spelled) rear daytime lights.
Hello .. I like this lamp .. Where can I find something like it? Thank you
Just got mine by becoming a Master! Its like Trek read my mind, I was just about to get a new tail light to go with my 520!
que precio tiene donde lo puedo comprar de cuánto es de lumens
I bought this when it came out, it worked once, and it will not switch on again. Is there a warranty recall on these lights?
Hi Nick, we have a 1 year warranty on our lights. If it was defective within the first use during the first year of ownership, you can have your local dealer submit a warranty claim.
i use it more than a year- it is the best tail light i have ever - i can tell i see how cars drivers not getting closer to me at my morning riding - it is keeps strong lightning for more than 5 hours of riding. the best!!!
How does it cope with the rain? I have over 250 days of rain or snow per year and ride all year round. My previous lights have all succumbed to the rain within 1-12 weeks.
got me through two Scottish winters, and i have them low on the seat stays too, to get a good reflection on wet roads, just make sure the rubber charging flap is really pressed in..
Cheers. Hope it'll get me through a west coast of Norway winter!
have a look at niteflux red zone 8, might be of interest for you..
Looks good, but in 1:52 it looks more like Optical Flares plugin for Adobe After Effects xD Anyway, I want to get one for road bike =)
I'd say there is a design flaw with these lights. I got one as a gift for Xmas a couple of years back. Worked great for a period of time but charge point is on the bottom of the light and any road spray and salt (I live in Scotland) gets flung into the charging point from the back wheel. Stopped working and sits in my bike bits drawer useless. No receipt. No help.
💡Super!
Still not a patch on the see sence light.
scon2006 No question the See Sense gear is a great light. However, the Flare is specifically designed to increase daytime visibility, and most lights designed for night use are not quite bright enough for daytime use. See Sense adjusts it's light level based on ambient light, so it's likely that the Flare will be brighter during the day.
Nice
NAME OF MODEL LIGTH PLZZ
It's in the title: :D "Flare R"
Though it's entirely possible the light is discontinued. They now have the Flare RT and Ion R.
Another light that may be of interest to you is the Knog Blinder Mob. Very good lights with modes that are suitable for daytime running and very good battery life.
When are people who make all sorts of bike lights gonna learn that a clamp holds your light in place better than a silicone strap?
comes with a clamp....
clamps dont fit universally but stretchy silicone does, i feel you tho
sounds like a great light with only one problem that all seem to have. None seem DESIGNED to attach to a rack. I would guess 50% have racks, and they PUT "STUFF" ON THEM -- BLOCKING THE SEAT POST LIGHT!!!! I will keep looking, maybe if I can actually see one of these I can tell if I can adapt it. But I will not -as it can't work for me (and how many others) get any light that is seat post only!!! Wake up manufactures time to update.
We actually offer different mounts, some specific to racks to mount to the rear of them. Talk to your dealer or hop on our website to view them!
Brazil -> 155 dolares u.u ?????
all that and not a single shot where the light is actually faced towards the sun....sunset is close but the rider is never where the sun is directly hitting the light. nice overcast shots....night....cloudy though....
Riding on the edge isn't one of the ways.
Although a great light, the problem is not visibility but drivers not paying attention to the road. if everyone just watched where they are going and where others are going, you wouldn't need this light. It's adressing symptoms, not the problem.
+pr0faker So how do you propose to address the issue so that EVERYONE pays attention to the road 100% all the time Einstein? Get real!
I bought this for for my husband whenever he takes the dog out for a walk. The dog is his bitch girlfriend.
See Sense is better than this now
To the cyclists in the video, wearing brighter clothes and helmets helps too.
