Such a soothing voice, and easy to listen to video. I watched out of curiosity and had no intention of making a spinner, but watched the whole thing because I was mesmerized. I was looking for a "how to" on making bamboo wind chimes. Sure wish some of these men making videos would take a lesson from you! Clear, and precise.
I just found this. This is a great and very informative tutorial. The only thing it lacks for me is how to attach the spinners and split shots (we call them sinkers because it makes the line sink in the water). I'm definitely going to try this.
Thank you for the demonstration ,I liked the part where the knife got stuck, the cat and husband laffter and most of al your smile, great vid, you truly are a natural teacher. thank you
Thank you for making this video!! Your heart shaped soda can spinner turned out incredible! You're very good at making them... wish we could've seen some of the others you made that were spinning out back! (hint...hint)
@Phlikkst3r I followed the video to the end and understood everything to the tee except for where the splitshot sinkers go and how exactly you put them and the swivels on and how to hang them anyway that u can elaborate or make a quick vid showing it thanks for posting this vid keep em coming
Excellent, informative video! You & your husband did a great job. I liked & subbed because if this is any indication of your future videos, I don't want to miss any. I have made many windspinners out of cans, but I'm not good at making videos yet. Might I suggest you do a followup video on different methods of hanging the spinners. For instance, how you made your heart-shaped hangers, and the method you use when stringing up the cans for hanging. Again, great work!
Food cans are much thicker and would require a dremel and maybe some pliers to shape them. As far as painting them, sure. I don't know how well it would stick though.
Every now and again people your exposed or interacting with will meet or find someone in their life that means the world to them, someone they genuinely love. its your ability to assess such situations effectively and act accordingly that's being called into question here. unfortunately you never saw it dow
I would also like to know where the weights go. Do you just use one per can? Do they go on the bottom? Inside the can? Really informative video except for that point. Another video said to freeze the cans with water and cut them and then let them thaw before continuing. That might make it easier to cut.
I see these spinners (as few do) as ... Mosquito Shredders! Small DC motor, solar cell, suspended in concentric yet offset rings allowing no straight Mosqy flight path to the target / bait / protectee... spin not only the spinners, but the suspension rings as well!
Great project, thanks for sharing. I would have liked to see a bit more detail on how you attached the strings. What's going on inside the spinner assembly wise. Also just a bit of video editing to maybe shorten the clip just a tad. Maybe cut out the part where the knife blade came out of the handle. Not trying to tell you how to do it just a suggestion maybe for the next one?
Great presentation! Some of your safety hints made me LOL, but they were spot on. I've used the split shot instead of crimping tubes (from my beading supplies) when I've repaired my old wind chimes, the extra weight is GOOD in the wind.... As for painting the aluminum cans, I use cheap nail polish after cleaning the can with acetone (and wearing gloves to prevent oils from my hands from making can less paint ready....) There are some GREAT glittery nail polish colors out there!
Loved your vid! Is it OK to paint these and can you use regular tin cans to make these spinnerw?(I'm not really a soda drinker and I honestly don't have too many friends who drink soda. Thanks!
go to recycle stations and lots of non-recyclables get tossed right next to the machines. I find wide assortment especially at the grocery stores trash bins.
mark it 4:40 ; cut it 6:05; carefully finish cutting 8:30 ; twist and crush opposite the spiral 10:05 ; oops caution 11:30 tore ; slot it for the hang line 12:16 ; fishing swivel 15:00
Will be doing another video soon on how I tie them off. It really is just plain old knots and some glue, but I will be making it soon. I'll invite the kitties too!
2JobsStillPoorUSA From the WD-40 site: WD-40® Multi-Use Product fulfills five basic functions: 1. LUBRICATES: The product's lubricating ingredients are widely dispersed and tenaciously held to all moving parts. 2. PENETRATES: WD-40® Multi-Use Product loosens rust-to-metal bonds and frees stuck, frozen or rusted metal parts. 3. PROTECTS: The product protects metal surfaces with corrosion-resistant ingredients to shield against moisture and other corrosive elements. 4. REMOVES: WD-40® Multi-Use Product gets under dirt, grime and grease. Use it to remove gunk from tools, equipment and vehicles. WD-40® Multi-Use Product in liquid form (e.g., gallon) also dissolves adhesives, allowing easy removal of excess bonding material. 5. DISPLACES MOISTURE: Because it displaces moisture, WD-40® Multi-Use Product quickly dries out electrical systems to eliminate moisture-induced short circuits. Technically, it IS a lubricant, since it lubricates, even though it was originally developed / formulated as a water displacer. 'light grease' - pffft!
Parsifal Druddle Do as you wish. But I can tell you that once it's freely moving.... like in an old sewing machine it needs to be wiped down and OILED and Greased. If you let it go with just WD40 it will cease up.
great thank you very much if were I was there i will marry you in a second , i have been looking for this information again thank you very much and GOD bless you

I've looked everywhere for how to make these spinners. Yours is the best instructional
video I've found. Thanks for the effort in making it for us!
Awesome video. You are the only one to show how to attach the spinners.
Excellent video! Thank you for the closeup demonstrations and easy to follow instructions.
Many Thanks to you and crew for sharing.
Joy, Peace, Prosperity!
You are a great teacher. Thank you for the laughs and for the awesome tutorial.

A great project. Well prepared lesson. Terrific teaching.
Beautiful creation. Thanks for sharing.
Nicely informative, Thankyou
It is a sharp and pointed tool, similar to an ice pick. I have a small screwdriver set with a couple punch bits in it.
I love the idea!

75 cent can, $2.00 Sharpie number of band-aids purchased while doing this project.... priceless.
You dear sweet person, your warmth comes across very powerfully. Lucky husband and family.
Good details.

So cute.
Please do a video on how to put it together with the fish swivels. Can't seem to figure it out.

Good project if u r aiming to have a bloody keyboard after writing ur comment...
eh hem... wd40 technically is not a lubricant... it's a water displacement (WD) chemical. Maybe some lightweight grease?
