String Tone Comparison: Martin Monels VS Elixir PB

  • Hey folks,
    Here is a quick tone comparison between Elixir PB lights and Martin Monel lights.
    Using a Boucher SG-152-BMV with a Bluechip TP 48.
    Guitar is made of Red Spruce and Madagascar RW forward shifted.
    Which strings do you prefer and why?

    I think the monels are a little brighter, with more sustain and low end, but the Elixirs notes are clearer, less muddied from the sympathetic resonance. From what I can hear through speakers anyways. I'll have to try the Monels sometime.

    I have a Yamaha LL16 d natural that came with Elixers and I was thinking of replacing them with Some Martin strings, after this I will stick with the Elixers.

    Elixers have more resonance than the monels
