ENTIRE TEAM IS BABIES! Heavy, Demo and Scout are off on an adorable adventure to find the key for a toy chest. The babies must fight through a terrifying car ride, a medieval castle, and a journey through to space to get baby heavy’s favourite toy back.
I am incredibly proud to share my Saxxy this year! It took a huge amount of time and effort, but it was definitely worth it.

It’s been 2 years now since my last saxxy attempt. I still can’t quite believe I was nominated, thank you to everyone who voted! Shortly after the saxxies finished in 2013, I was hit with some pretty severe neurological vision problems. They progressed and slowly got worse and worse until it got to the point where animation was impossible. This was a really rough time for me. Animation is my passion and to have it taken away like that really hurt. So, I decided if I couldn’t do animation, I was going to plan a huge SFM short that may or may not ever get made in the meantime. It was around October 2014 that I began thinking up ideas, and around February this year I had the idea set. Also around that time, I began some pretty experimental treatment for my vision. Basically, what it ended up doing was making my vision crappy 90% of the time, rather than 100%. In that 10% in the day where I felt up to it, I’d do a small amount of animation.
After 9 long months of hard work (…Which is kinda weird since this IS about babies), this video was the result! I really hope you enjoy it! Everyone on the project put a ton of work into this, and it has been an amazing experience watching it come together. I am incredibly thankful to everyone who has helped me!
This is said often, but I genuinely mean it when I say it… This would have been completely impossible without any single person who worked on this. The amount of work Adam managed to do in just over a month is astonishing. Jeffrey’s music absolutely blew me away. Juan’s sound design and the kids he recorded gave the film so much life. Hypo’s animation absolutely saved me spending days on running animations and other complex stuff, which would never look anywhere near as good as his. Sandra’s voice acting was so perfect I genuinely forgot it was even custom dialogue for Miss Pauling at one point. Rosemary helped keep me sane with her sfm technical help and the fantastic treasure map model she created. Thank you all so, so much.

This changed me. When I think of a SFM, I think of a animation purposefully stupid and with no logic, but this animated masterpiece is wholesome, logical, and heartwarming. You deserved that saxxy award 👍
Many years later, I still can't believe you took the babies from the Pyroland dreamscape and not only made it very adorable, but also used it in a way that felt natural.

Kirill Kiselyov I actually cried the first time I watched. At the part when they show the actual day they had and how much fun it was, especially at the part where Heavy got his teddy bear back, I started to tear up. And then like you said when Baby Scout almost didn’t get a hug, but at the last minute he does, that’s what started the waterworks for me. Just rewatching this now makes me miss childhood and how much fun one day could be.

The babies look cursed and adorable at the same time and this whole animation put a smile on my face, especially the last bit.
In an alternate universe where everyone survived the war and the Mann Bros made peace, thus allowing the mercs to become close friends and have families. I'm guessing Pyro isn't present in this PG universe cause he's the toy manufacturer, Spy is basically Grandpa Spy, and Sniper is now Uncle Sniper.

Man... Scout would probably finally get with pauling, soldier and zhanna would have insane kids, pyro would stay with Pauling or engie to try and treat their insanity, demo would visit soldier every year for Halloween or Christmas while he still works 5 jobs at a time for his mom, heavy and the rest of his family would move to New Mexico (permanently) to watch over his, now very elderly, mother while his sisters travel the world and start their own families. Engie would move back to Bee Cave but still visit every now and then. Medic would (hopefully) make several medical breakthroughs earning himself multiple Nobel prizes and awards, and make his name engraved into the history books. Sniper’s parents would probably sell their old farm and also move to New Mexico with him because in the comics you can already see it’s in a relatively shitty state... and Spy would be doing... whatever spy does. Traveling the world again, coming home time to time to be an awesome grandpa who probably taught kids how to shoot a guy in the head with a revolver. I just hope they get a happy ending.

This is honestly the cutest animation I have ever seen.
Imagine this is what happens when the Mercenaries retire. They all settle down. Engie starts a daycare, Heavy , Demo, and Scout start families, Scout likely being one of the happiest of the mercs, settling down with the girl of his dreams. Medic makes HUGE breakthroughs in the medical industry, with the occasional help of the Engineer. Pyro takes of the mask, and realizes the horrors he's committed and vows to become a better person, helping the homeless, and such. Sniper finally reconciles with his parents given that they're not very happy with his career choice. Spy is happy with his little cauliflower. Soldier likely continues his career path, given that's what makes him happy.
