Today, we talk about the scene between Luthen & Saw Guerra & their differences of opinion on which side to fight for the Rebellion! - Krátké a kreslené filmy
This scene alone makes me bewildered how anybody could say this show is boring. Just say you want effortless characters, pointless action sequences and random references thrown in.
*I'll take both to be honest. But, I just want many things star wars to have at least good writing & character development that keeps my eyes locked on my device that I'm watching these movies & shows on. Everything star wars will never be for everyone. People have their own things that like & dislike about this beautiful & interesting universe.*
Agreed, even when slow the writing makes it good, like how dialogue in GOT started . Slow then fast…. With boobs though
@@starwarsunlimiteduniverse I’d take good writing over stupid references every day of the week, this show puts the book of boba fett and obi wan to shame!
@@KillaZero Those two series get ridiculed on their own merit, however, the difference in quality compared to Andor is abysmal.
WHEN IS DARTH VADER GOING TO SHOW UP AND SAY ONE OF HIS ICONIC LINES
I love how Saw rages about 'Sectorists, Human Cultists and Galaxy Partitionists!' it really shows the diversity behind the rebel alliance and why they collapsed so quickly after winning. They didn't have clarity of vision as a whole.
Saw was right.
They did not collapse, they formed the New Republic...Heir to the Empire
He turned out to be right.
Don't know where you got the idea that they collapsed. After the war Mon Mothma peacefully dissolved most of the rebel alliance and converted what was left into a fleet to provide security for the Republic. The real mistake was not finishing off the empire and allowing Imperial remnants to continue existing so that they could slowly rebuild strength.
@@hoos3014 Sure, but if they never pulled together they would have never won. I'd argue it's worth it compared to hiding in cold caves begging for spareparts.
Two amazing actors + great script = fantastic scene.
*They most definitely are great actors & this scenes was great!!!!*
Forest Whitaker is amazing here. The look of anger that flashes across Saw's face just before he smiles goes to show the subtilty and attention to detail they work into the show.
@@dave210yt *Indeed. Whitaker does a great job as Guerra in his live-action form! Such great work as an actor.*
Saw's speech must've been the most stressful thing ever for the Wookipedia writers lmaoooo
*Lol! Indeed. I'm lol forward to reading some Wookipedia updates soon.* 😂
Cranking out pages for 6 new factions and updating the Separatists' page to existing after the clone wars
@@davidgeslani48 ‘bout time
human cultists... go figure
Lol I love how Whitaker is just going hard as fuck in this scene.
The acting and the dialog are insane
*He definitely did. Such a great episode.*
Absolutely. Whittaker - and this whole cast, really - feel real in a way that most of recent SW has not. We have only seen a handful of scenes with Saw, but his personal and political perspective is very clear, and what he says in this scene fits perfectly with his origins in the Clone Wars. This is an actor who studies their character, and takes it seriously regardless of the genre.
I don't think I've ever seen Whitaker go anything LESS than hard when playing Saw...it's amazing. I'm generally a fan of the Animated Star Wars stuff over the Live Action for my own reasons, but Whitaker's Saw is a character I think is his best possible self in Live Action
I wonder about how he was originally cast. Was there already a plan in place? Or was it. 'Hey do this role for Star Wars!" Oh we also need you in this. And this one too. One more! This one is a cartoon so it will be quicker, oh another cartoon! Good thing you signed a Disney contract!
"We need the Empire to help! We need them angry. We need them coming down hard." - you see Saw turn his head ... that's the moment he realized who was behind Aldani. And that's when he really needed to know ... "What are YOU, Luthen?"
*Right!!! His expressions were on point with how he was reacting to Luthen during this scene. Just wow. Just a great scene indeed!!!!*
i think luthen is the kinda of guys that really can topple and empire. sol can't do it, none of the group he named can do it. heck even if all the group he named came together, they may still be fighting a losing war vs the empire. ITs people like Luthen that the empire fears, not people like Sol.
@@wei270 *That possibly is the case. Luthen can be the beginning of the Rebellion, the main threat to the Empire, while Saw is just someone who causes chaos "In the name of the Rebellion". If that makes sense.*
For all of Saw's unhinged demeanor, Luthen is the one with all his pragmatism that will push billions to their deaths to kill the empire. I love everything about all of these characters
@@override367 maybe that is why the British used to say the man that dreams with his eyes open are the most dangerous kind. I never understood why they would consider that kinds of men dangerous until I saw your comment. Saw doesn't have a dream he just has a simple purpose, Luthen is the one with the dream and he is not dreaming in this sleep.
I needed this scene. Explains so well the fragilness of the upcoming Rebel Alliance. They all hated the Empire, but had different ideologies. Something Rebels couldn't even do..
Every insurgency is like this at the start and even throughout its conflict - factions with different leaders who have different agendas on how to reach their collective political end goal. The ones that are able to unite tend to win and form a government that can govern a society.
@@Acast009 which I think is exactly what saw knows, and why he so against the factions
WEll, it sells the point I've been making Separatists aren't evil. The last separatist is the first rebel.
I mean, Rebels was focused on ONE cell in ONE faction of the Rebellion - this is focused on a completely different concept
So
Yeah, not surprised a show aimed at kids dealing with just ONE faction (as opposed to multiple factions) didn't capture that aspect since it wasn't intended to :P
I would argue that Saw's few appearances in Rebels are proof of the different ideological factions within the alliance, except by that point most of the alliance had, well, allied. By the end of the show they have successfully built up the military fleet seen in A New Hope, and even the season 1 finale with the introduction of Ahsoka was when the many rebel cells began to organise together as a collective.
Andor is years before that though, when most of these cells are in their infancy though (with the exception of a select few like Saw and those Separatists, who didn't stop fighting even when the Clone wars officially ended).
It's telling that Luthen is trying to convince Saw to work alongside a Separatist (the group who Saw was fighting before even the Empire came to power and who killed his sister)
*True indeed.*
The separatists actually killed saw's mother. there's a reason he despises them and refuses to work with them
And his sister so 2 family members we killed by the seperatists @@ComradeVenus
i love how both of their faces are half in shade and half in light. it really emphasizes their personalities: they're both fighting for the light side, but in doing so they have to dwell in the shadows, doing dark things.
*Indeed. I caught that as well.*
It shows the similarities between the Empire and the Rebels. Both will do what they can to achieve their goals, even if it means sacrificing people of their own as scapegoats.
The dialogue in this scene is spectacular. It reveals several facets of the characters, where they stand within themselves and with each other. Absolutely fascinating. Big props to the writing here.
*YES!!!! The facial expressions are key for actors so that we the audience can assume their thoughts as they're responding to each other as well as how they're responding to themselves too. Great dialog here.*
its better on every watch
I think Forest Whitaker is actually better here than he was in Rogue One.
*This could be up for a debate for sure.* 🤔
I mean, the idea of making forest whitaker saw garerra was an after thought. He was originally just a random rebel. In this they had more time to make him behave a bit more like he does in clone wars.
@@thescruffinator8830 They wanted to make him a random rebel??? Seriously??? The guy has an Oscar and is still appearing in decent productions...
@@daudimasinde6280 Not random. They just originally wanted it to be an original character. Then they decided it'd be cool to use a clone wars character. That's why he doesn't really actually look like saw.
@@thescruffinator8830 your pfp is a work of art
Every time Saw shows up on a different Star Wars project I love him a bit more
*Indeed. Same here. Saw is a very well written character through & through.*
That ending set of shots where we see Saw start getting angry enough to yell or smack Luthen, then pause and sit back and laugh. Like, you can see through the facial expression Saw's thinking "Why you little...wait, you're the one who's desperate!"
*I'm rewatching that scene now as I'm preparing to do my live-stream discussion Andor's episode 8 & yeeeeaaahhhhh. Saw was upset indeed. Which is why he DEFINITELY turned him down in the end to join him in the fight against the Empire.* 😂
Having spent a good portion of my years among various activist groups, that line about anarchy really rang true for me. In any movement, you will always have the "all government is bad, smash the state is the only way" folks, and while I don't agree with their perspective, they absolutely have a clarity of purpose that many other lack. Just fantastic, insightful writing.
*That "Clarity of Purpose" line stood out to me in this scene & yes, you are correct. Many of them have a stance & a resolve that's so strong, it's like a steel wall to even try to penetrate through. But again, I LOVED Luthen & Saw's scene here.*
yeah i agree they have clarity of purpose, but a general lack of fore sign sadly. The simple question is what are they gonna do after they smash everything.
@@wei270 Make communities like the paris commune, but, everyone knows how that go. Being an anarchist is not easy, most of them die and I think is cause we have less people than other movements. We dont have a good way to sell our ideas, maybe thats the first part of what we need to do before start the revolution
@@ericgabrielbautistajaimes9187 anarchism is an unfortunately alluring concept but that does not mean it is not also infantile
And just like Luthen says here, anarchists will never see their goals even halfway realized if they refuse to work with other like minded groups
“I am the only one, with clarity of purpose.” Saw saying that with a smile on his face makes me want to see more of the other political parties and how they all seem the same way
2:40 when Saw begins his 'rant'--you can already see he's stepping aboard the 'Crazy Train' that he is riding full on in Rogue One.
*Most definitely! We see the wheels turning. This is like a year before Rebels begins, so he definitely is heading in the direction.*
"I am the only one with clarity of purpose."

I didn't understand what he meant by that really... can anyone explain?
@@Orto-jj2di He believes he is the only one with a clear ideology and purpose for rebellion. He is calling everyone else a reactionary.
"Clarity of Purpose?" I call it The Convictions of a Fanatic.
So in hi mind, clarity is pure anarchy with no other hidden goal
@@dimensiomat at least Luthen is honest about it
I’m really hoping for more dialogue like this I want to know more about the different galactic political groups
*Same here! We need MORE from the various parts of the galaxy!!!!*
Saw’s got a fire in him, don’t he? Forest Whitaker is a top class actor.
*FIRE for days!!!! I love Whitaker's work as an actor for sure!!!!*
Forest Whitaker has owned this character from the start and then combined with Stellan Skarsgard as Luthen you are watching two absolute power-house actors at the top of their craft, combined with great dialogue, great story and writing... SUPERB! Any scene with these guys is pure gold.
I would rather have ten solid minutes of this scene playing out than ten hours of the best scenes from the prequels or ten hours of the...well, whatever the sequels had, for better or for worse...This is my favorite scene in Star Wars, period.
*I'm glad that you enjoy these scenes a lot
I do as well.*
This is deadass the best star wars since empire strikes back
@@Sushi_bar It is. I don't get how so many people don't seem to like it...
Luthen's connections with Saw and Mothma show he is the intermediary of how Rebels should fight the Empire (Radical Rebellion and Moral Rebellion).
it's interesting to know that there were these diverse factions other than Separatists like Neo-Republicans, Ghorman Front, Partisan Alliance, Sectorists, Human Cultists, Galaxy Partitionists in Star Wars universe. Other than Separatists, I never heard of any of these factions, but I assume it doesn't matter because the Galactic Empire apparently destroyed all of them.
I think he finishes counting factions at Partisan Alliance. Sectorists, Human Cultists, Galaxy Partitionists are adjetives Saw is giving to all these other groups. At least that is how I understood it.
*These factions do hold specific weight because of where the money if flowing through these organizations. But, they each hurt their communities each year through the usual daily channels like taxes & stuff. But at the same time, there's so many of them, people choose sides & because they feel the one faction is better than the other. So there's that as well.*
I believe they survived. Remember the Rebel Alliance isn't just Mon Mathma or Bail Organa. They gather ALL the Rebel cells into 1 to form the Alliance
I think human cultists are Jedi
No. They all still exist. He’s claiming that none of the other groups have clarity of purpose as he does. They are “lost” because they are muddled in either infighting, naïveté, or are cautious to the point of ineffectuality. He didn’t say they were gone.
“nothing with you is free” ahhh i just love the way the conversation goes from jovial to serious in a instant. Two no nonsense men getting to the point. The characterization in this show is immaculate. Chef’s kiss.
I do genuinely love how this show accurately shows how leftists spend as much time infighting as they do fighting fascism
He actually seems frightening... like this guy is someone *without limit* for the cause. Everytime my patience falters this show delivers a scene like this every time.
Everyone's so distracted by the good dialogue and acting that we're overlooking that apparently, oxen are a thing in the Star Wars universe.
Moo.
It’s nice to see that we have an empire that terrifies an entire galaxy and a divided and incapable rebellion. Before the battle of Yavin 4.
Also, I’m glad to see that Sew Gerrera and his followers are the anarchist fighters of Star Wars.
*Indeed. I love the Empire. I'm glad that we're getting some great stories from the ISB.*
I'm not really sure Saw is an anarchist. Anarchism is maybe the ideology that people understand the least and maybe this word was just thrown here because it seems "extreme". I don't really know how he theorizes what he wants and how the partisans are organized (Anarchists want to destroy power, especially among themselves : why is he the leader then ? How does the internal democracy function ?).
We know that he is "extreme" (Which all revolutionnaries are, even "good" ones). That doesn't make him an anarchist.
Also, he was fighting for a king during the clone wars (but people can change of course)
@@darkkothor He is become an anarchist because he doesn't like Empire since the beginning and doesn't like Rebel Alliance to restaure the Republic. Never he joins this alliance.
@@farissbenrix7413 I litteraly am an anarchist. I think I know better than most what anarchism is or isn't. It is not about "not liking anybody". It is about abolishing all forms of power.
I am not saying he isn't one. I am saying that nothing tells me he is. Maybe if we learned a bit more about the organization of the partisans or their core theories, I could tell. For now, I don't know.
@@darkkothor Saw Gerrera doesn't fight here to restore the Republic or any galactic superpower
The flash of rage at 3:53 is terrific. Luthen hit a nerve and it shows. This is great acting and the silence as Saw has to compose himself is thick. Only to smile at the end, a attempt to hide just how angry he got.
He likely rebuffs Luthen's offer because of this jab, but he ultimately realized that Luthen is correct which prompts their next interaction.
I love this show and can't wait for season 2.
Old palp is brilliant on these thing
Clone wars not only gather him enough power and support to change the system, also create scar in galactic society that keep those who against him divide
He thought out much
The did the slow burn method with this show. Lots of character development. Which is smart, and makes the whole story a lot more meaningful.
I really enjoy veteran actor’s in a position to continue honing their talent at their craft !
Really loved this scene. It's weird timing that I've been learning about real life revolutions and this show started airing. Makes me want to overthrow a government just for the fun of it
*NICE!!!! This show continues to get better each week indeed!*
Tony Gilroy the showrunner on this series based this series on real life revolutions. Probably another reason this is resonating with you.
Its a great time to be a star wars fan we got Andor and Tales Of The Jedi. The Force is with us😁
*We are on with the Force & the Force is with us.* 😏
Great scene! Much to unpack in the dialogue
*I really love this scene between Luthen & Saw! Such great dialog & much to discuss about what they talked about.*
How the soft, metallic strike of the soundtrack is in sync with Saw’s eye blink and denotes his realisation that he does not really know Luthen. Sheer genius filmmaking. This show is next level.
I believe there’s a lot more to Luthen’s “coward” statement, which will be revealed as we learn more about his origins in S2
Man...Saw is such a character. I think of all the characters on Star Wars he might be the absolute most complex. True Believer, Freedom Fighter, Terrorist, Mad Obsessive, Scared Young Man, Torturer...Saw does so much and just by existing he shows off the depth of the Galaxy as a whole
The Partisans and or Cloud Riders need their own show
*Sure!!! Why not. Give us that as well.*
I feel like Saw Garrera was born a few millennia too late. Real son of Onderon. In the time of the Old Republic he’d have it _made_ as a Beastrider warlord.
But here and now?
The Empire is the kind of enemy that’s just too big for him to adapt to.
Now THIS is -podracing- storytelling!
*1000& great story telling!!!!*
Fantastic acting, you can really feel what they are conveying
Say one thing about Saw Gerrera
He is a man who holds TRUE to his convictions
What he meant to say was he’s not willing to put his men at risk for someone else’s agenda.
*Oh for sure. Saw isn't with that at all*
A masterful scene, I love this scene
*It most definitely is! One of my favorite scenes in the show.*
Love this show. Such a fascinating interplay and it's so strange watching Saw Guerrera as the "useful sociopath" that all the other Rebels have to deal with/handle/strategize around.
based just on this scene luthen is an accelerationist
They really both shine as actor’s & great at character building, great scene
Every single scene with Skarsgard and Whitaker is a delight to watch - two of the best actors alive today at the top of their game!
Man I kinda wanna see a Saw series or I hope Andor shows more of him. A Anarchist, that commits warcrimes just sounds amazing in the starwars universe.
it could also be an opportunity to have more imperial supporter characters, fighting against saw's partisan.
This show saved Star Wars for me. Made it real and relatable. Made the OT and PT more powerful. And I was the least excited about it
This is one of the best scenes in Andor with Luthen and Sawl, I love how Forrest plays his role, I do wish to see more of Sawl.
There certainly are successful movements relying at least in part on anarchist thought, Rojava and the Zapatistas immediately come to mind, but yes unfortunately being defined by what you are against without planning for what you will do once the dust settles is a common error in activist spaces, and many self-described anarchists who are more Pistols than Proudhon only get in the way of real change. Within Andor for example, something I found fascinating is how “clarity of thought” is a “strength”of both Saw and the Empire. Self-righteous pariahs unable to understand the greyness of politics are doomed to whittle their time away until they die alone or lose the spirit of resistance.
The writing in this show is AMAZING!
I adore this channel just as I adore this series.
this and the debate scene from rogue one show how drastically different some of the rebel alliance groups are in the galaxy. They’re all fighting for the same cause but all have their own ideas and ideologies which makes it so much more complex.
Rewatching andor 6 months later and it just gets even better, especially after the disaster of mando s3
Saw has been a favorite since the Clone Wars, such a fringe character driven by anger and revenge. Whitaker is awesome for this role and when he jumped on that AT-AT in Fallen Order I shed a tear.
Both actors have had amazing scenes over their time in show business, but this is a prime example where they bring out something extra when confronted by similar greatness of craft. Whitaker is killing this role, and sharing scenes with Stelan can only make it better.
This show was a hidden masterpiece
Love how Important Saw has become since Clone Wars I mean the guy is in everything.
1. Clone Wars
2. Bad Batch
3. Fallen Order
4. Rebels
5. Andor
6. Rogue one
Gotta wonder how bad the 'human cultists' that Saw talks about, that they're fighting the Empire and not joining it.
you really need to figure out the volume balance between the clips (too low), and your intro/voice (too loud)
When the order that is forced on you is chocking, cruel and uncompromising...anarchy does sound like a good solution...
The fact what when saw starts ranting he blinks in time with the impacts of the music...you cant convince me that wasnt on purpose...
Awesome scene indeed.
*I truly loved this scene indeed!!!!*
This scene and the one with Luthen's speech has ranked Andor on my nr. 1 show in the Star Wars universe.
I hope they make more like this.
Revisiting these wonderful scenes from 2022. After seeing the dog 💩 of Mando season 3 the writing and acting of Andor was absolutely splendid.
Every morning Saw wakes up hoping someone will rally all the factions together and take the fight to the Empire and every night he goes to sleep disappointed.
Anarchy is kinda based
I hate Disney Star wars, but Andor made me almost believe again. I don't care about anything from Disney Star Wars, but am greatly anticipating Andor season 2
Same.
Acolyte is going to be an enormous trans lesbian woke dumpster fire.
The continuity!
*We need MORE of this type of continuity for sure.*
One of my friends is an anarchist and absolutely loves this show and it's interesting getting their perspective
Anarchy is a halfbaked mindset. It's like lighting candles on a birthday cake and then never blowing them out until the wax is all melted on the icing.
@@MonstersNotUnderTheBed Some people confuse poetry and analogy for insight. As if saying something that seems insightful makes it so.
An analogy such as “leaving candles on a cake and never blowing them out” implies that the issue with anarchism is a failure to follow through. A belief that anarchists act without a plan.
This demonstrates a failure of understanding of what anarchism is. A failure of understanding anarchist history. And a failure to understand anarchist practices.
As such, you are ignorant of the subject they feel so comfortable speaking on. As many people do specifically for anarchism. They have become complacent in their intellectual curiosity and have refused to learn what anarchism actually is due to a misplaced self-confidence that tells them they know all they need from the anti-anarchist propaganda that had over the years become cemented into public understanding.
Wookiepedia editors hearing Saw mention galaxy partitionists, sectorists, and human cultists:
“For the greater good.”
We’re not the judean people’s front! We’re the people’s front of Judea!
Is there a prettier sight than a coalition of resistance tearing itself to pieces even before the tyrant's corpse turns cold? All the chicken blood oaths end up worthless. And that's beautiful... Yes, members of the Coalition Against Dong Zhuo eventually fighting against each other.
It’s great exposition that isn’t exposition, because it’s delivered so hardcore
Dialogue and acting of the finest level in the star wars universe
*Yes indeed. Great writing for this show.*
“You come all this way to scold me!” 😅😅😅😅😂😂😂 brilliant
Thank god andor did well as it did. Star Wars needed a show like this
The names of all the different factions could be swapped out for the different religions in the world and his speech would still make sense...'all of them lost"
swap it with actual ideologies and saw with an anarchist
8 months ago
Damn why did you cut this off?
That wasn't an upfront straightforward answer, that was a deflection to move things back onto ground where he could make his point. Discussion of what his true beliefs are about what the galaxy should look like after the empire falls is clearly in Saul's territory and he wants to focus on simply getting there first. But his strangely long pause and shifty expression for a moment reveals the truth - his own true beliefs are quite relevant and not at all the mere compromise for pragmatic victories now gospel he is preaching for the moment.
and him being so cagey about it proves we should be suspicious of what he's really after
*Interesting. I truly felt that Luthen actually said how he felt upfront even though he still wanted Saw to meet with Kreegr which is probably still going to happen or at least have Kreegr show up in one of these last three episodes of season one. So, yeah. He definitely wants to see something occur in the long run of things.*
@@starwarsunlimiteduniverse I don't doubt that what he said about his feelings are true, but its a very clearly defecting answer. Everybody has some sort of vision for what they want the galaxy to look like, what they're after, what their politics are other than "anti empire" (and especially because he came out against anarchism its clearly his philosophy isn't purely one of negation). This is what Saw was asking for, and Luthen simply didn't answer that question, instead he decided to seize upon another possible use of "who are you". But Saw specifically was asking him what his ideology is and he darn well knew it.
Great acting & damn forest Whitaker looks younger than he did In rouge one
God I loved this show!
Breaking Bad level writing.
*Indeed.*
Writing we definitely wanted.
It is the centra dilemma of politics. To gain enough support to win, it becomes necessary to dilute your ideas until they are compromised. That’s why everyone hates politics. Those that win power are hypocrites, and those that are true to their principles always lose.
so, that's definitely the time grappler banging away on the soundtrack, right?
We need a live action show with Saw as the lead character
I think Luthen was once a wealthy coward but a Jedi inspired him to be something more. However, when Order 66 came, and the Jedi died, Luthen wants to save the Republic the Jedi who inspired him died for.
Saw's right, though-most of those groups rebelling against the Empire don't know what they're doing. It feels like if the Empire disappeared tomorrow, groups like the Ghorman Front, the Partisan Alliance, the Separatists, New Republicans, Human Cultists, Galaxy Partitionists, and Saw's anarchists would all be at each other's throats. The New Republicans obviously won at the end, though.
I don't know that Saw is really an advocate for anarchy so much as a guy, like Luthen, who can't be distracted by what comes after the Empire when he's fighting for survival in the present. One can argue that Saw's paranoid and uncooperative, or simply that his idea of "cooperation" isn't to be manipulated the way Luthen does with Krieger. Luthen plays other Rebel factions like pieces on a board, expendable if necessary, the ends justifying the means - and to play Luthen's game is to agree with Luthen's rules, whatever they happen to be at any given moment. In trying to involve Saw in Krieger's operation, isn't Luthen just trying to sacrifice two pieces in the same move to facilitate another move somewhere else?
The word "anarchist" gets bandied around here, whether it's accurate or not, because it serves Luthen's purposes to use it - but Luthen will say or do anything to achieve his ends. Luthen calling anyone anything doesn't even vaguely make it so. Everyone "working together" to defeat the Empire here means only fighting the Empire in ways, and at times, of Luthen's choosing.
Luthen's just slapping Saw with a reality he's not willing to accept, yet. The fight against the Empire is way bigger than his own ways.
Had the Death Star gone operational without any organized opposition, then that would've been the end of freedom, forever. Get rid of the Empire first, whatever follows should be way less severe.
*I believe that they were both giving some interesting advice to each other in this scene.*
How pox is ashoka compared to andor?
I related to this a lot. I'm an actual anarchist mix of anarcho-syndicalist and synthesis anarchist. And people always say anarchists should just work with other communists, socialists, Marxists, Marxist leninists, maoists or whatever and we are all like no. I get that they don't like capitalism just like we don't but they want to install a authoritarian state. I don't want the us to become china or stalinist Russia so why would I ever want to work with them. They historically have killed anarchists after they win. The red army worked with the black army to fight the white army. Once the white army had been defeated they betrayed and murdered the black army in Russia. They did the same I Spain and China. They would here as well. So who you fight with and why you fight matters a lot!
as someone whos a mix of Mutualist anarchism and synthesis anarchism I agree.
All I could think about was how right Saw Gerrera was from the very start when he literally warned about the future, many Rebel leaders aspired for, rebuilding the same old republic system. I mean, how else did The First Order rise in the first place?
Saw is the best character in the history of Star Wars. A man who wants to break the state without breaking his dignity. Surrounded by racists and authoritarian extremists whose only beef with the Empire isn't control but who has it... feeling alone but resolute. My kind of hero.
It's so relatable to anyone who has spent time in anti-establishment social media circles. Hate and distrust of the state spans many, many incompatible ideologies. Faced with an enemy as powerful as a "Galactic Empire," who would you be willing to fight alongside? Where is your line?
There is have been a lot of anarchy references in SciFi lately; Andor, The Expanse, and Halo for example.
Would love to see more of Saw; Forest Whittker is a great actor.
