    I got a little confused at the beginning because you said DC in the 2nd row, but I thought I saw you doing hdc, so I backed up the video and realized you meant hdc. It does work up quickly, thanks 😊

      it is easy to get tongue tied when making these videos. For new videos I put the pattern text at the top of the screen so if I do say the wrong thing, you can at least see the right pattern.

    Hello, gorgeous bowl cozy’s. While listening I got confused when you went to the second row you said (2:37 -2:39) slip stitch to your first double crochet. When you crocheted the first row you said half double crochet... then on the first stitch of the 2nd row you said double crochet two stitches in each stitch. Again I see you put half double crochet in the stitch. I was confused but wanted to bring it to your attention.
    I appreciate the free pattern thank you very much! Stacy

      I just got tongue tied. Sorry. I rarely use Half Double Crochet. The entire bowl cozy is made with half double crochet.

    Great tutorial. I’m having a hard time finding a pattern that will fit my soup bowls (they are large). So far I have ripped out three different patterns. With that said, I’m going to try your pattern because you are the only one that I viewed that gave 2 sizes. I’m hoping this will work for me. I’m sure they will work for others. Thanks again, appreciate the tutorial.

    Correection at 2:56, you stated to make 2 double crochet in every stitch around the ring, you made 2 half double crochet in every stitch around the ring.

      I may have gotten tongue tied. I believe the entire pattern consists of half double crochets.

    Hi can I use t shirt yarn

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Possibly. I would just aim for 100% cotton to avoid any of the fibers melting against a hot bowl.

    If you use 100% cotton won't it shrink up nd not be useable?

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  Před 2 lety

      I have not had issues with cotton shrinking on other projects. I wash everything in cold water.

    I’m on row 5 for this Cozy. I’m using cotton yarn it doesn’t seem like it is going to be big enough to fit over a bowl . I’m using a single strand . Do I need to use a double strand with cotton yarn ?

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  Před 2 lety +1

      Yes. With cotton or acrylic you will need to hold two strands of yarn at a time. Cotton yarn is normally a size 4 yarn and when you hold two strands together you get something that is a size 5 yarn. So your bowl cozy would be about half the size it should be with only using a single strand. It also might not be thick enough to keep your hands insulated from the warm bowl.

      I would 100% use cotton over acrylic. Acrylic yarn can melt

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  Před 3 lety +1

      That is why the video says not to microwave it. Cotton is safer option but even then I recommend not microwaving as I know another designer that used to advertiser her pattern as 'microwavable' has stopped doing so due to a reader having an issue microwaving there bowl cozy. The rule of thumb is, unless the yarn manufacturer says it is ok, I would not microwave it.

  • @RichiexFelicia
    @RichiexFelicia Před 2 lety

    I don't intend rudeness, just wondering. Isn't the purpose of these to put on the 'too hot to handle' bowl when it comes out the microwave? I totally understand that the too hot bowl would need to be touched to put the cozy on, but you can also then hold the bowl without it being too hot. That said, I don't understand why a bowl with the cozy on it already, would go into the microwave. Again forgive me if I'm being rude :( but wouldn't that defeat the purpose of it?

    • @WindingRoadCrochet
      @WindingRoadCrochet  Před 2 lety

      Long story short, there was another designer that made a bowl cozy pattern with cotton yarn and claimed it was microwavable. Then someone used it in a microwave and had a fire. (We are not sure of the wattage used, time in the microwave, etc.)
      I agree with you, it really doesn't make sense to put the cozy in the microwave but I have had TONS of people try to tell me they can be microwaved if you make them with cotton. The idea is we can't keep people from doing anything. We can only provide them with the best information to help them make the best decisions. In this case, I provide 3 reasons why NOT to microwave them. Honestly, I get nervous every time I share the video because I am going to get people arguing with me.
