Mercedes 614d Full restoration Bus to Camper 1st Anniversary photo montage.
We are John and Kerry and thank you for watching our full restoration van build on the anniversary of our start date. We are both keen DIY'ers and have our own set of skills in different areas that we managed to bring together to build isambard_
Isambard_ is both John and I second Mercedes Benz Vario build which we started on the 22nd November 2020 and continued with during the second Covid lockdown. John's third and he previously restored and fully renovated a 57ft narrow boat.
It had a full back end re-build and body realignment from a previous bad repair, we removed and reinstated a copious amount of steel on the chassis and bodywork thus ensuring the future longevity of the bus.
We had a budget, stuck to it and managed to create a luxurious multi functional, maximum five berth, fully off grid motorhome finished to the highest standard we could achieve constructed by ourselves and not using any manufactured fittings inside or out, top to bottom apart from solar, electrical and plumbing.
We previously did an interior conversion for our long time friend Graham (Sometimes I Wander) in six weeks. Both builds are documented on his channel.
Where do we go from here: This is not the end but the beginning. We have some more projects planned for the future as we come to the end of our home renovation, including a new search for a more extreme base vehicle.

When you started the demo work my heart sank as you kept uncovering more and more rust and damage and I truly felt horrible that someone must have really scammed you to buy what was basically a shell of a van/bus that was about to crumble into a pile of rusty metal bits. Then you started to work your magical and highest level of talent and crazy skills to basically build your future travel caravan from the ground up. What you created and built is definitely stronger and of a higher quality of a vehicle than the original one was which is pretty awesome and incredible because Mercedes usually builds a higher quality vehicle than most with Volvo being the highest from my experience with both vehicles. An older model Volvo saved my life back in 1989 when I was a passenger in a Volvo stopped at a red light that was rear ended by a car going 45mph in a 15 mph zone. The impact spun the car 180° and sheered the heavy chrome bumper off. That was the only visible damage on the car.
I can't wait to see the new build you are working on currently because you learned a lot from doing the first build and now know what types of things you and your family really need to make living in the new build even better the second time around. I hope you will post more videos on your channel.

Grate jobs mates , i just started a 0814,vario 2001 128000KM first job was to remove the second floor ,as it was a wheel chair bus original floor as new ,just started to remove the roof and life it 40 cm as the kid wants a drop down bed i got one out of a Hymer , hopefully it will be finished for next year, ONEE AGAIN GRATE JOB GOT LOTS OF HEAD UP FROM YEER CZcams channel

Hi Barry and thank you. RE: Editing. Not exactly my forte and seeing as I only had stacks of photos and no video footage it was the best I could do. I will however do a proper comprehensive van tour video when we have finished removing the temporary fittings for permanent ones. (Getting it Show Ready 👌) Take care. 🤗🚐

@@GrandadBaz Yes we are displaying at the Overland Show in June and most probably in September as well. It's one of the best shows of the year, I believe. Also 'The Vanlife Eats Big Picnic' Do come and find us if you manage to get there. 👍

Million dollar question 🤔🤔 it has changed since this video was made. We are currently working on a Vario panel van for a friend then we will be working on another Vario van for ourselves.....Isambard will then be going up for sale. Check out our Instagram page for updates. 👍

Hi there Al. As you can gather I'm not a big CZcamsr both John and I were always happy to just leave the updates on our build to Graham as and when we saw him. We just preferred to crack on with the build in hand. However due to us not seeing Graham as often because he is off wandering somewhere my grandson and I decided to put together a montage on the anniversary of getting our bus. Hence only the one video. We will also once we are fully complete be making a comprehensive video tour now we have acquired new DJI cameras 😁🤗 and drone. We are often asked if in particular John and Graham are making any more videos. It is constantly talked about.....I think they should because they have a good rapport together and make me smile. 👌 We are meeting up with Graham this coming half term and I will certainly make it known that they should get themselves into gear and start recording again. 👍🚌🤗
