Barrel puts out so many expressions and my consumption is pretty low. So it looks like Batch 034 over 035. What about New Year expressions? Do you have a favorite one from barrel
Sadly I haven't tried the new year releases
I largely ignore the W.A. list. I like seeing blind tastings more to figure out what's good and what is more led by brand or the "echo chamber".
What is it about 34 you enjoyed more than 35? If 35 is such a strong recommendation, I'd be curious to know!
Others in that price range would be the single barrel barrel strength offerings from Four Roses or Old Forester.
Wait. Single barrel barrel strength? Is that different than just the single barrel? I just looked at their site to see if they had a new release.
Their regular single barrel bottles are only 50 near me so I'm assuming you're referencing something different
@@TheWhiskeyDictionary It is different. You can get them at the 4R distillery or as store picks. I picked up a store pick recently (in Arkansas) that is an 11 year at 108 proof. They usually run 9-12 years and 105-115 proof for 100ish dollars. Not sure why they aren’t on the website. 🤷♂️

@@TheWhiskeyDictionary - Oh boy. If you're unaware of the Four Roses SiB BS picks, you have some enjoyable learning ahead of you. Ages ranging from (normally) 8-11 years at proofs ranging from (normally) 110 - 120 bottled as SiBs of all 10 recipes. It's an experience unlike any other thanks to all the transparency about their mashbills.
Also, last year, they released small taster sets at the distillery of all 10 recipes for around $150. Worth trying to locate if, like yourself, you need an introduction.
