how a cassette player/walkman works inside

this was my dad's walkman long ago, I found it in my cousin's house. I threw the old batteries and popped in new ones and it still works!
The batteries are kinda weak now though cuz I've been using it a lot, the radio works fine but the tape is kinda slow. It also stopped working while I was recording a previous take so I took the batteries out and rolled them.
