Cheers Paul, it’s Sean from Atlanta! That rock outcrop looked like “Weathertop” from Lord of the Rings! You live in a spectacularly beautiful part of the world! It’s winter here in Atlanta and around 20°F. Is it summer there? Beautiful home, as well!
I have happily followed you for many years and I am glad you are taking on this journey again with full confidence! Thanks! I am always watching.
    Sean

Hi Sean, Weathertop is in Port Waikato, a location not far from where I once lived. Actually I have filmed a few videos there. Very similar landscape.

Cheers Paul, nice set of images, lovely perspective. Keep the vid coming, always worth a watch, and cheers from a windy Anglesey.

Another great video Paul. You mentioned not using your Olympus gear very often - the same for me until this week when I saw great light out the window of our place catching an old dead Redgum as the sun set. I grabbed the camera and the 100-400 from the bag it had been resting in (for about two years!) and tried to capture something worthwhile. The result was pretty average but you're right about the value of a long zoom for landscapes and using 'forgotten' Olympus gear!

My thoughts exactly. = Although a necessity, too bad about the power lines in a location like that.

Well done Paul, we often forget that our local surrounds often have more things worth a photo, if we just take the time to look. These days my 18-270 lens is almost always bolted to my main camera, it provides such a large range of imaging opportunities. I rarely have the 50mm on the camera as it seems I'm always shooting from afar when travelling around the district. Good to see you dusting off the Olympus too. 👌

What a chill way to start Friday morning. That landscape is fascinating. Old mining site? Regardless, it's a place you would never get bored in.

Once referred to as the "Pumice Lands". The landscape has been shaped by thousands of years of volcanic activity. If you are interested there is a good video on CZcams that backgrounds how the area was made good for farming. In the video there is a shot of the location this video was filmed at (at 14.35). Here is the link.. czcams.com/video/9dvF0EwuEuQ/video.html

Hi Paul .. I'm glad you didn’t do a McCurry with that pylon. I know from memory that the area around Taupo and the Taupo cloud maker are peppered with them. It's definitely a very long time since I've video with you using that 100-400mm, and as always I love the resulting images.

6:58 Great dappled light and shades of green 3 pylons as sculptural elements, I remember your video when you moved to your new place, and i figured you had bought on the western access south of wakamaru! the shot of Mt Pureroa confirmed it (i'm not stalking you) thanks for sharing

Alway a joy to watch your videos! Content wise, but also your filming and editing is great. You get a real feel for the area you are in. And man what a landscape your backyard.
Kind regards from the Netherlands! (The place with the (old) Zeeland.

The best image was the M digital with 50mm lens! I used tele lenses for many years! It was easy as my long lenses and Teles, were for SLR! I'd seen how much better my Takumar 200mm was so much better, than my Leitz Telyt 200mm f3.5! I sold the Visoflex and it's lenses. Over the years, I see poor resolution in All long lenses, esp. Zooms! I'm not a sharpness freak. Liked the images!
