I have long maintained this is the most beautiful piece of music ever written. 43 year old grown man and I can listen to it a thousand times in a row, and I WILL cry every time. This was an absolutely incredible reaction! I don't comment on any videos really but your reaction and the commentary at the end was so eloquently put. Evanescence has been my all time favourite band since they first made it big and this song in particular holds a TON of special meaning to me. Seeing them live a few years ago was a real dream come true. I really hope you react to more of them in the future. ALL of their songs as well as Amy's solo stuff and covers are out of this world awe inspiring. There are SO many amazing tracks but if you get the chance please check out Everybody's Fool, Lithium, or Good Enough. Those three have music videos but you really can't go wrong with any Evanescence song lol. Thanks so much for the heartfelt and genuine reaction and also your words afterwards. Iv lost count how many times iv cried to this , I believe it’s about her passing and being an angel as her feet never touch the ground throughout the video and the children can’t see her , her partner keeps looking up to the sky for her , that’s what I think anyway

I was six years old when this came out, the first time I heard this song I was on the bus ride home from school and I lost it and every other time I heard it on the bus radio I'd start crying again. Didn't know what it was called or who performed it until my teen years when I randomly found this music video, and although I didn't cry again I felt so moved by it.
So I'm into music charts and stats and all that kinda stuff, and for the Billboard Hot 100 and UK Top 40 it peaked at 7th, which considering that they're an emo hard-rock band that's an amazing accomplishment even for 2003/2004 when that kind of music was much more mainstream. But what I find more impressive is that Billboard ranked it 48th on the all-decade chart for the 2000's. Also went platinum in four countries, including the US and UK.

It’s a very emotive, exquisitely sung and beautifully arranged piece of epic music. You’d have to be a little dead inside if you sit and properly listen this song and not have a reasonable response to it. All that and a wonderfully judged video to accompany it and it’s an all time classic no question.

This song will invoke emotion is just about everywhere. 30 different people, 30 different circumstances. All of whom are reached at different levels.
I was 23 when this came out. At that point in my life, I saw a lot of loss. Friends, my Grandparents, relationships.
To say I was a mess when I heard this would be an understatement.
20 years later, and I still feel that emotional connection. It's a true talent that can keep a song relative two decades later.
So well done. I could see the song, the melody, the lyrics, were hitting you as if you were taking physical blows and yet, you finished the video. Such strength in you.
This song delves so deep into the past we carry with us and we cannot help but relate to it.

The song hits home for a lot of us i had an ex wife that always was worried and scared of everything and would call i would rush home from work to look around the house and always was her rock when she needed and then she just left and wouldn't even talk to me and then when i needed her she was gone and i couldn't even talk to her it ended up being another man and her love just went just like that. It was exactly around the time this song came out i would constantly cry when i heard it and still my eyes get watery. But i know everyone must get hit by this song Nice Reaction

Don't feel bad at all! This song has been around a very long time, and I react to it the exact same way that you did hearing it for the first time. That is what a beautiful piece of music and a voice like an angel will do to you.

You mean her specialist post-production? Layering of a few slightly different tracks on top of each other, echoing the main ones with a very tiny delay(or, actually, reverb) to make it sound fuller, panning out of specific layers to each ear to make it sound "wider", etc?

She does have a nice voice, but it is nowhere close to what you can hear in the studio versions. I could probably record you and make you sound almost as good.
Not saying she's a bad singer. She is good. Very good even. But the way it sounds in studio versions has little to do with her skill and almost all to do with the skill of her sound technicians and producers.

Most people do, especially if they know the background story of the song. According to Lee, it was "Ben Moody's song." Moody said that the song talks about "a spirit staying with you after its death and haunting you until you actually wish that the spirit were gone because it won't leave you alone." This is one of my favourite ever songs, Amy Lee has the most angelic voice, and like someone else commented, she never touches the ground and is the sprit herself, beautifully done. If not already please check out 'Call me when you're Sober'.... completely different style but just like 'Bring Me To Life' it really shows off her vocals, amazing!

She goes from the accoustic soft, to the full gut ripping rock, quite often on the same track. A full on emotional roller coaster. Running from euphoria to slit your wrists and back again. Please look deeper into Evanescence - it's worth the ride.

Fantabulous reaction. Whether she's singing ballads like this, or hard rock songs like "Going Under" (on their first album like this one was--another good video), she's just mesmerizing. Don't know any other way to put it. Another song off the first album with a good video is "Everybody's Fool". A social commentary of the way that the music industry takes young girls and just sticks them out there on stage to make money off of them.
