STEM Aviation Lesson 2-4: Advanced Flight Controls and Surfaces

This lesson will introduce flight surfaces found on aircraft beyond the basics of rudder, elevator and aileron. Flight surfaces such as trim tabs, high lift devices (such as flaps, slats and slots), spoilers, air brakes, decelerons, dive brakes and braking devices (such as drogue chutes, thrust reversers and lift dumpers) are briefly covered. An introduction to multi-task flight surfaces (such as flaperons, elevons, split rudders, stabilators, wing fences, vortex generators wingtip devices) is also covered.
