I absolutely love how Prince embraced and demonstrated his Blackness later in life. The level of chocolate beauty in this video still brings joy to me. From the lovely Angie Stone to the beautiful Milenia girls. I listen to this song or watch this video at least a few times a week. Good music is timeless and this song still sounds great.

Prince always been proud of his blackness, even in the beginning. He did start with an afro (he was a child of the 60s and 70s after all) and toward the end of his life he went back to the afro. all of his music even sound distinctly black

The fact that I was a PRINCE LOVER and I am THE 131st person to comment on this ...so big. Stopped speaking to my brother for a while, siblings fight, make up, we lost our mom very young, then he got married and forgot he had a sister - my bro called me on the day Prince went to heaven. I know the love I had for Prince was pure. His songs helped me through so much in my life. So much pain and trauma. I am so thankful for Prince and his audacity to be as great as he is. Since Prince passed, I have seriously been on this journey of pure self awareness, self acceptance, self love, but most of all knowing my purpose. I wanted to be just like this man, share my voice with the world but self doubt and fear will stop you from doing so many things. Thank you for your comment, it is so beautifully said.

This song is so special to me. My favorite version is the rare live version performed in Oakland, C.A. at the Oakland Arena in 2001 on his “Hit ‘N Run” Tour. Another classic track that the masses don’t know about. It’s a shame, this man was so much more than “Purple Rain” but that’s all people talk about. All people talk about is “Purple Rain,” “1999,” They single out “Raspberry Beret” and totally ignore the rest of the album “Around The World In A Day,” they single out “Kiss” and ignore the rest of the album “Parade,” and every blue moon you’ll hear about the “Sign ‘☮️’ The Times” album, just the song “Diamonds And Pearls” totally ignoring the rest of the album and just “Sexy Mf” totally ignoring the rest of “O(+>.” And that’s it! You NEVER hear about the records after his name change which are EASILY some of his best work such as “Emancipation,” “The Gold Experience,” and “Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic.” It makes no sense and just perplexes me to this day. “Lovesexy” is what I believe to be his best album and it gets NOTHING! Every now and again you’ll hear about “Alphabet Street” but that’s IT! And “The Arms Of Orion” off of “Batman” is one of the most beautiful songs ever penned, but I dare you to ask even a casual fan about that song and I PROMISE YOU they’ll be completely STUMPED! So many of his absolutely PRICELESS gems go unnoticed, it’s such a shame. And people call his true friends (fans) like me “obsessed,” but I just shake my head and pat them on the shoulder because they will NEVER know or even begin to fathom all that this man means to us. There is nothing and nobody like him left on this planet. I’ll never forget when the good Lord deemed he and I to cross paths. I saw him live and in concert on his “Welcome 2 Chicago” Residency: September 24, 2012. It was the happiest day of my LIFE! I’ll never forget it.
