Slimzee is the rightful "Godfather" of Grime. One of the founding fathers! When Slimzee played a producer's track he'd make them big overnight.

Such a kind man and true ambassador of the scene. Big up you lads! Your channel is a staple. Happy 2024 and beyond! Bless!

Now im deeping it in my older years, i would have nowhere near the love and appreciation for grime that i do have, if it wasn't for DJ Slimzee. So many times he gave me that "wtf is this?!...i love it" feeling. He made me do my research and seek out riddims from the likes of Alias,DJ Wire,Wonder,Eastwood and many more, because he played them 1st and more importantly, consistently. Would Sidewinder be what it was without him? One drop mixes? Me and my mates emulated him! LEGEND!!!

Another absolutely wicked interview. Brings back memories of hearing these amazing sets including the sidewinder mix. Did anyone else notice that the audio on the mix seems to slow down throughout the set? Also Argue has a sick interview style, quickly honing in on interesting points never really touched on before. Keep em coming

Here’s some grime history for you….. once upon a time way back in 2004 an American teen eager fell in love with a clip from Lord of the Mics 2 and decided to research the music and artists and ever since then I’ve followed the culture from America (keep in mind I never been UK) and can talk grime with TRUE grime heads that are from London. The culture captivated me and I spread it thru America at a time where nobody here knew anything about it as they were more into the emergence of EDM (another music form big in the UK with drum and bass and bassline) so ever since I’ve listened to my first grime track it’s all I’ve lived and breathed ever since. Don’t believe me, come ask me some shit and I promise I surprise anyone. People from the UK back then used to swear I was from the UK taking the piss because of how much I knew!!!!! Ask about me!!!!!

It's funny how EDM, Dubstep and U.K. Funky House were all thriving at the same time, while Grime took a hiatus until 2013 with German Whip being released. The U.K. has lost its Dance Music crown, because we no longer focus on Emcee/Dance Music Culture. Our music scene is in the bin.

It’s a weird thing I started listening hardcore and jungle around 93, but always swerved garage and never liked it - stuck with drum & bass when everyone listening garage late 90’s - I did like the grime sound and still like it - garage was too sweet for my liking

I honestly don't think wacking someone like Slimzee down in a chair and doing a recorded interview is something he is used to or maybe even feels comfortable doing.
And I say that because especially at the start of the video it's akin to getting blood out of a stone in as far as DJ Argue trying to get straight to the point answers out of him as opposed to the long winded and convoluted responses he was getting early on.
Like as the interview progresses it gets better in that aspect but yea you kind of can't help but notice that Slimzee does look a little bit out of his depth for lack of a better way of putting it. And I'm not for a second trying to dig him out because I suppose we all have our flaws or whatever but yea that's just my take!!

After a debate with several people on here, I do understand with where @HYPERMASCULINE is coming from. Even though I spoke with my cousin that is still good friends with DJ Virus. I still don't agree with how the very first Grime instrumental comes from West London or North West London. Don't get me wrong, West London DJ's/Producers created a style of darker 2-Step Garage that later became Dark Garage. But Grime didn't really exist until around mid 2002 and DJ Virus, Jon E Cash and some members of Musical Mob created their Instrumentals in 1999. That's still to early, because Grime isn't just about the Instrumental, there's more to it.
