Such amazing music. Listened to these guys as a teenager, and just revisited all of these albums as an adult. Still absolutely wonderful. True talent here. While I'm sad they're gone, I'm happy they got the "dignified death" they wanted. Every album was amazing, and they called it quits before the music went to shit. Respect.
An essential band to make you live... Forget all the shit in the world, and focus on what really matters. In what is pure and true...follow your path, become what you are, and be inspired by real art. I booo to you ISIS one of the best bands I have ever had the pleasure of listening to. Probably my favorite post metal band of all time.
To this day I still remember driving to work in early 2001 hating life. Listening to celestial on the way and it at least put a smile on my face for the start of my work day. Crazy how you can remember small details like that.
My first ever show was seeing this band play this album live in a small club in 2001. Their show was the moment I decided to become a musician. It changed me that much. All these years later, in 2020, I still make music. This show changed my life forever. It was at the flywheel in easthampton MA during a snowstorm. The show was packed anyways. Every single person in the crowd banged their head. The power and volume was undeniable. I will die loving this band.
Everyone blows up about Oceanic but this was their greatest album. I saw them play these songs live at CBGBs; the crowd was extremely brutal. One of the best shows I have ever seen.
To each their own, but I mean I think the band thought Oceanic was their favorite as well. For the remastered version they left "We've saved the best for last. The re-mastered reissue of our 2002 album "Oceanic" will be out November 4th. This version will also include new packaging. Enjoy a preview below" On their Facebook. Oceanic is my favorite album by them followed by Wavering Radiant.
***** You just haven't submerged yourself in the depth of their musical ideas after Oceanic. All their other albums took many listens, but when I finally understood them, it was musically rewarding. ITAOT and Wavering Radiant are among my favorite albums ever personally.
This album is excellent for the more "immediate" listener: Its catchy riffs and rhythmic drums make it instantly gratifying. I feel like their subsequent records required time from the listener, and that's why a lot of fans regard most of what came after as being a step down. They didn't get that instant rush the first few times they heard it, and probably never overcame their initial disappointment. As far as I'm concerned, they were at the top of their game around the Oceanic/Panopticon period. If you can afford them the time, I think they prove to be a much more fulfilling listen than even your best Celestial sitting.
davethehostage Eh, I feel this album is as intricate as the others and I wouldn't call it catchy. This album was going in a different direction than most of their other pieces. But yeah I agree Oceanic and Panopticon were the best. They considered Panopticon a "failure" but I thought they did well with it instrumentally. Celestial does a better job of conveying the message of destruction of privacy than Panopticon though. It feels more painful and urgent on Celestial.
Black holes are rather a result of implosion of matter because of gravitational collapse. Theoretically, it is possible for a black hole to explode, then it would be called a white hole though. Great album by the way.

It has the subtle aesthetic to be considered a work of art, the great riffs to be heavy/fun as shit, and the balls to be what they are with no hint of trying to appeal to a broader audience that this kind of music went through a few years ago.

Corpses2Dinner They peaked around 10 years ago, & their music began to grow & develop, becoming more melodic & yet, not losing ANY of the galactic might that, which they held back through song structure & unleashed in ever more precise ways. In what could be one of music's classiest splits, simply decided to no longer continue on together & pursue other projects, for instance : managing Hydra Head records ( who's roster overflows with incredible bands, far too awesome for the moronstream ) & working with Tool on the last two recordings.
Can someone share the remastered version of this album with me plz? I've bought the first press because I liked the front cover more but when I put my remastered Oceanic album in after Celestial, I always realise how enormous the sound quality difference really is. This album is too good to be heard with low record quality.
There’s no band exactly like ISIS unfortunately. They were unique in their delivery of crescendo. Especially this album. Nothing quite like Celestial’s rawness. Some bands to take a look at: Cult of Luna Neurosis Russian Circles Old Man Gloom Pelican (a much more tame ISIS) If These Trees Could Talk Caspian (one of my favorites) Explosions in the Sky God is an Astronaut
+The Crows Nest AHhAHhAhAAA!!!! I didn't even need to click on the time you linked to know what part of the album you were cussing in shock over. First time I heard it I was totally shocked, not only that they would have the nerve to do that, but that they pulled it off so incredibly well.
Okay, I swore I replied to this comment, but you definitely need to listen to Don Caballero 2. The entire album is just like that portion. To say that album is innovative is an understatement.

In what could be one of music's classiest splits, simply decided to no longer continue on together & pursue other projects, for instance : managing Hydra Head records ( who's roster overflows with incredible bands, far too awesome for the moronstream ) & working with Tool on the last two recordings.
Warrior Poet Hasnt Hydra Head shut down?
And what kind of work are they doing with Tool?
OH. MY....
Can someone share the remastered version of this album with me plz?
I've bought the first press because I liked the front cover more but when I put my remastered Oceanic album in after Celestial, I always realise how enormous the sound quality difference really is.
This album is too good to be heard with low record quality.
Corpses2Dinner Why would you want to change a masterpiece? Keep it original
Change? A remaster is no change, it's just a much clearer and also louder sound. That's it.
Группа Супер!!!!!э
Do you ever get the feeling that you’re sinking??? I DO!!!
Based band based album...
Hey Dave.. I was curious/ what sing starts at 10:41? If you could please. Also.. any lyrics to these? ❤
I hope none of my friends would misinterprete their band name bc i absolutly love their music
If you're worried that your friends will misinterpret the band's name, than that's probably what's going to happen.
@@joshuacoleman8000 They just need to find better friends.
killer.
11:23 that’s ffffff heavy shhhhh
listen to the band SMAR SW album ,, samobojstwo"
Can anyone suggest similar music to this? Doesn't matter if it has vocals or not. Always looking for more!
There’s no band exactly like ISIS unfortunately. They were unique in their delivery of crescendo. Especially this album. Nothing quite like Celestial’s rawness.
Some bands to take a look at:
Cult of Luna
Neurosis
Russian Circles
Old Man Gloom
Pelican (a much more tame ISIS)
If These Trees Could Talk
Caspian (one of my favorites)
Explosions in the Sky
God is an Astronaut
26:54 FUCK
+The Crows Nest AHhAHhAhAAA!!!! I didn't even need to click on the time you linked to know what part of the album you were cussing in shock over. That's one of the coolest, meanest, most brutal passages on any album... on every album ever recorded.
May Jesus bless your life he's the life not death, he's the light not darkness. He's your salvation and he's brings you everlasting peace!! Bleh im fucking Around just repeating what a preacher once told me

Dude! Sol Eye Sea...I love Irepress... wish I had that album cover as a whole wall... been a year since you posted so you may never see this ha ha but anyway... so few people know of Irepress, I had to comment on your pic.
Ramzi Aaron Yeah absolutely, maybe one day Isis will reunite and then Irepress could do a tour with them
That would be epic... I always said I would love to see Cloudkicker and Tool together... If you haven't heard Cloudkicker, I think you would like them.
Ramzi Aaron What's your favorite record from them?
