The king of England ?
Indeed. He was greatly loved and admired as the people's prince before, during, and after "The Great War". Therefore, it was only fitting that he (now as king) should have been the one to unveil this monument to Canada's sacrifice... these soldiers who gave their all in defense of the Empire. His abdication came a few months after this event.
