  • Despite tremendous progress in reducing air pollution over the last several decades, many Californians live in communities with unhealthy levels of smog. L.A. Times air quality reporter Tony Briscoe shows us what areas to avoid when searching for a place to live in Los Angeles and how we can be part of the solution to cleaner air in L.A.

Mr Briscoe, I noticed that when preparing a meal at the end of the video, your gas stove had a microwave oven immediately over the gas stove. Do you have an exhaust fan to the outside of your building? Or is your only choice, to vent fumes while cooking, the fan that is incorporated into the microwave? I have the same setup in my domicile, and it is woefully inadequate in eliminating fumes and gasses from the gas cooking flame. It simply blows the exhausted air back into the home. This to me is a much greater threat to your/mine air we breath.
