  • As an off-shoot of my scrap-book idea book I’m building another idea book for junk journalers. This one will include various flips, flaps and folds. The idea isn’t to create a useable journal when I’m done (though you certainly can), rather a resource of pieces that can be made and included in any junk journals. Shout out and huge “thank you” to Gayle Agostinelli (her CZcams channel is her name) for the many wonderful book page ideas. With the exception of this introductory video, my goal is to make each subsequent video 10 minutes or less. Please join me as we build a junk journalers idea book.

I'm not sure why you have a self-imposed time deadline of 10 minutes because the ideas you're showing definitely warrant more time. In sharp contrast to those who take an hour to show very little : ( You must be doing a lot of prep work ahead of time. Consider taking more time; I'd surely stick with you! OMGosh...this is GREAT! I also found you through Gayle, so the first flips, flaps & folds video I saw was #21...then I came immediately to #1 and will go through the serious and make a good also. I get stuck sometimes, too, need inspiration, and don't really have time to watch videos. OK...so NOW...the journal cover itself is GORGEOUS!!! do you have a video with instructions on that??? LOVE!!!

      That’s the beauty of this type of project. You don’t need a lot of supplies or options to get started! Choose any paper that looks interesting to you and just make the projects! Each subsequent project just builds from that point. Don’t overthink, just do… and have fun with the process 😊

    THANK YOU!! for keeping the videos short!! I love all the other artists too, but just don't have time to watch for an hour or more.
    I'm new to your channel so you've probably answered this before, but why do you have a piece of foam on your glue bottle?

    • @CoriDahmen
      @CoriDahmen  Před 3 lety +1

      Welcome and thank you. Yes, I used Velcro and a replacement inking tool foam to make a landing space for my stainless steel pin. I often forget to put the pin there, put I’m trying! Darn thing always manages to fall when I put it on my desk. My plan/goal is to keep the videos short (10 ish minutes or so) just because I’m in the same boat. So many wonderful makers, but I can’t watch several hour-long videos each day. Some of the projects take more than 10 minutes, but I’m trying to minimize those.

    I’m new to your channel and really appreciate how informative a short video can be! I like this format. Can you please tell me what size needle you use in your sewing machine to sew paper? This is all new to me!

    • @CoriDahmen
      @CoriDahmen  Před 3 lety

      Hello Kathy and welcome! The color in my machine right now is purple, so size 100/16. I also use blue (90/14) and yellow (110/18). I'm no sewing expert, but I'm not so sure the needle size matters much. The bigger the needle the bigger the hole. When I sew paper (which is about 95% of the time) I make my stitch longer. So, fewer holes per inch. It gives me a great seam and makes the paper less likely to tear. On my machine (Pfaff) I also adjust the tension so my stitches are (mostly) tight enough without being too tight. I find it easier to sew on paper than fabric.
