I am French and I confirm that we do not eat as many snails... It is especially in some regions that they are consumed regularly. On the other hand, there are "Escargots (snails) à la bourguignonne" everywhere in France and honestly the snail itself has no taste it is especially the herb and butter sauce that we put in it that is super good!

    Just to clear things up.
The French constitution forbid the differencition of people based on their skin colors and ethnicity ( asean, black...). So the numbers he said about it are blind guesses.

For the region "Brittany" is the english version, it's Bretagne in french which is problematic because in french Great Britain is "Grand Bretagne".

Snails are not insects. Snails, prepared with a special garlic & parsley sauce, are not a common dish, but rather a delicacy, sometines on the menu of restaurants. Predominently, it is consumed in Burgundy. As for horses, horse meat used to be consumed by a limited number of people, but today it's very rare.
In a nutshell, French people never eat horse, and snails are just a delicacy offered in some restaurants (and French people are not particularly fond of them).

Snails aren't insects, they are terrestrial gasteropod molluscs, just like winkles are marine gasteropod molluscs. BTW, snails are never consumed as is but are prepared with garlic, butter ans parsley, then cooked in an oven. Barbie is also bullschmitting about raw meat and toxoplasmosis because just like anywhere else in the EU, meat is strongly controlled and most people who eat raw meat (most of the time a _steak tartare_ once or twice a year) take care to get really good quality beef meat, just like someone who likes sushi won't probably eat raw fish if they think it's not safe. And contrary to Germany, french people very rarely eat raw pork meat. Most of the time, the exposition to toxoplasma gondii around the world is due to people who don't get their cat checked by a veterinarian and are dealing badly with their soiled litter.
And in both cases (meat or fish, eggs too) the biggest sanitary danger isn't toxoplasmosis but salmonellosis.

It's weird, no one finds it strange to eat whelks and periwinkles, but for snails, you find it incredible. They are the same animals, except that the former live in the sea and the latter on land. They also taste quite similar...

If you travel just a bit, you'll notice that snails are a treat in all southern Europe. No mention of frogs that were eaten earlier in the UK according to the oldest archeo discoveries.

Well I would say we don't eat snails as often but it may depend on what french region you live in. I would say that when we eat snail it's on some occasions, it's kinf of fancy to me.
For those who are disgutted by the idea of eating snails, just so you know how it's prepared. You take the snails out of their shells, then you put them in to salt so they dry (must be quiet a painful death), once they are totally dried you wash them properly with water, and their i'm not an expert but i think they are cooked with a garlic sauce and it's actually quiet good. The texture is between the seafood and the mushroom I would say.
