What's your favorite Bug type? Mine's gotta be Scizor. I mean, c'mon! Also, screw it, if this video gets 15k likes I'll release the full version of "No Joy"
Yep. I believe Shuckle has a total of 505 while both Scizor and Scyther have 500 each. Shuckle used up the majority of it's stat points into defense and special defense though.
@@connaeris8230 yup that's what I exactly thought, Crustle's high Defense (plus having a Defense boosting Nature) means that even with the Teravolt negating Sturdy, he'll still survive. But, the Quick Claw definitely mattered because Crustle gets to keep Sturdy intact.
In terms of the famous musicians in the Pokemon world, I can't believe that you'd forget the Go-Rock Quads from the Ranger series. Truly an iconic quartet
Don't remember what video it is but he already used the name before. He doesn't seem to recycle pokemon names probably why he didn't name it after mothra
Just as a tip for anyone who wants to do this run in the future, you can get the psychic tm using surf right after undella town and the fire blast tm from the pokemon center in lacunosa town, so you can at least get volcarona some good moves before Drayden since it's level up learnset is pretty dookie
For whatever reason volcarona can't learn energy ball im black, was disappointed about that since I was using one and it would've been a great fill in for giga drain before I can get to Humilau City
I've been waiting so long for something in particular to happen in these mono-type Nuzlockes and it finally happened. During the Hall of Fame animation, the Pokémon that flash on the screen have a background to reflect their type. We finally got one with all 6 backgrounds to be the same! Great vid
19:07 Funnily enough, Kyurem-B's Ability is Terravolt, which acts the same way as Mold Breaker. That means Ant Bully would have been at risk of being KO'd if you were really unlucky. Thankfully the crit saved the day, although I don't know if the crit mattered lol
Clay's badge is supposed to be a cross section of the ground, it shows the different layers of the ground like soil and bedrock with a gem below that because he's the Mining King
That Crustle Stealth Rock strategy against Iris is great, I used it too in my HC nuzlocke. Given that Crustle is a guaranteed encounter, you just have to hope it has Sturdy. I'm a bit bummed Heracross didn't have Guts, but oh well. Great video as always!
I keep telling people that trade evolutions are lame and you should totally be able to cheat to get them evolved without that silly restriction. but hey, it's your rules. good run, some close calls and overall real good performance until the unfortunate deaths at the end.
Omg, bug type is my favourite type and for this reason watching this video was the most relaxing thing ever. I really like this type of video, good luck for your work
Id love to see a Pokemon BDSP with only Poison types if you haven't done one already. I can see it being a major challenge, given the fact that there's a lot of big battles that resist Poison type moves, or are super effective against Poison. Plus, there's a gym leader immune to it.
Thank you for keeping up the monotype runs. Rom hacks and shiny runs seem to be more popular with content creators now so I’m very grateful you’re still pumping out these great monotype vids.
My favorite bug type is vikavolt.I just love electric types so vikavolt is pretty fitting for the spot and vikavolt has a really good design too Edit:Galvantula is also one of my favorites too
Always love seeing new videos pop up! Thanks for making them, they are amazing and inspire me to do my own nuzlockes. Definitely Kleavor or Yanmega. You should try a HeartGold or SoulSilver water only one!!
My favorite bug type interestingly enough is Volcarona. Timid with Heavy Duty Boots is insane. Btw did you keep silver wind for potential boosts? Cause the tutor in driftveil teaches Signal Beam
Best nuzlocke youtuber. But now I want to see you do some more challenging ones like renegade platinum. Like other rom hacks with more pokemons and challenges
RE Shuckle according to ye olde Bulbapedia: Shuckle seems to be based on an endolith, an organism that lives inside porous rocks or animal shells. Given its category, the Mold Pokémon, Shuckle may be based on a fungus or mold variety of endolith. Its category could also allude to fungi such as cedar-apple rust, which bears a strong resemblance to Shuckle, or fungi-like slime molds. Given its Bug typing, Shuckle may also draw inspiration from scale insects-small, shelled parasites that produce a sweet fluid called honeydew that attracts other insects. In particular, it may be based on the barnacle scale, with characteristics of actual barnacles. This species is part of the Coccidae family, also known as "tortoise scales", which may explain Shuckle's resemblance to a turtle or a tortoise. It could also be seen as a reference to the food fermentation process, with its Rock type alluding to the pottery used to store and ferment aliments in some cultures, and its Pokémon category referring to some fungi used in cultured foods. Shuckle may also have been based on certain varieties of mollusk, as it shares some characteristics with them, including the shell, the muscular but limp-seeming feet, the use of acids to receive food or to break down obstacles, the liking for fermented foods, and living close to the water. Its worm-like aspect may also take inspiration from a nematode.
This was a very fun nuzlocke to watch lmao. Anyways u can give volcarona fire blast before u get flamethrower and u can even teach it signal beam through a move tutot
Great video as always, always make my day when I see them. I’m curious to see if a monotype water run on Black 2 would be possible, I tried it myself but got pretty soundly destroyed by Burgh’s Leavanny.
My favorite bug type has to be galvantula. I just think spiders are very neat! In video games, in real life they are the bane of my existence. Scolipede and Golisopod and a close second.
10:50 This is the basis for the Quake Badge (Clay's badge), according to Bulbapedia: It is shaped like a vertical piece of earth, the top half of which has cracked and slid out of place, resembling the result of an earthquake, or as two tectonic plates interacting.
Im just started again to play pokemon ever since highschool.. and bug type line in gen 5 just started to diversify the overall bug types.. leavanny and escavalier are my fave bug types since i started to play gen 5 nuzlocked.. ur videos are the reason that i started playing pokemon again..
Loved this challenge!!! You did so well! I think a cool challenge would be UsUm with only Ice types. The encounters early game are a little limited, but I think that would add to the challenge!
It's still amazing to be able to go all the way to Iris without losing any pokemon considering the typing--but Gen 5 does have some pretty good bug types like Crustle and Volcarona. My favorite bugs are also in here too! It's Volcarona and Galvantula. Bug types definitely need more love. Good run!
Hey, Antlerboy. Great video as always and to answer your question, my favorite bug type is Ariados, because I'm a huge Spider-Man and Japanese Yo-kai fan boy, while my least favorite is Ledian, mainly because I forgot that it exists.
I think it's like a slice of earth, with different layers of minerals or dirt to illustrate different kinds of soil. there's a blue gem buried at the very bottom.
Honestly I think bug types are underrated yes there not that strong but there are some many cool and cute ones my personal favorite is ribombee because I find it funny that a big that looks like a fairy could take down a mighty dragon well now that I think of it that's my second my favorite number one bug is Durant not the best steel bug but I love the steel type and has one of my favorite shiny
Psychic from Volcarona was stronger there, it had a chance to take out Archeops after Stealth Rock depending on investment as opposed to Flamethrower which never had a shot. But you still played magnificently and I'm so happy to see a Nuzlocke with a type that never gets the love it deserves
You could do something like a Colourlocke, in which you can only use Pokémon of one colour (I think Pokémon has a set colour for each mon). This might be quite hard since there are surely some game-colour-combinations that are pretty challenging!
Gotta love how in most generations most big types are terrible, and in unova they decided to make not only , that every new bug type is amazing (one way or another), also they gave us the first mythical bug type
Fantastic video. Incredible entertainment and fantastic expression of skill. I have only one complaint: Female combee evolves at 21 not 24 like you said :)
favorite bug type? scolipede and volcarona, no challenge really glad you did a bug challenge in black 2, as gen 5 is my absolute favorite gen and i love bug pokemon ♥ great run
I have an interesting suggestion Fairy type run for either ORAS or BDSP. In each case you’d only have about 4 or 5 encounters (depending on how you rule Grand Underground) but I think it’d be very cool to rerun a region in a new/super unintended way!

Yes definitely scizor
Scizor too, looks too cool
Scizor and scolipede!
It's gotta be vikavolt for me
The weird thing about shuckle isn't that it's a bug type, It's that it's got a higher base stat total than scizor.
The WHAT
Yeah until gen 5 it had the highest BST of any bug type

Yep. I believe Shuckle has a total of 505 while both Scizor and Scyther have 500 each. Shuckle used up the majority of it's stat points into defense and special defense though.
Kyurem black had terravolt, which nullifies sturdy, so that quick claw was extremely lucky lol. Love your content
True but without a crit I think he’d survive anything??
@@mjja4783 yeah
It didn't have any supereffective moves, and I don't think it even had any strong enough moves to kill Crustle without a crit.

Also you get can Heat Wave and Giga Drain for Water types via Move Tutor Both in Humilau City. And Signal Beam for decent Bug Type damage in Driftveil
You can get Energy Ball from the lake right next to your house in the starting town which is a super random place XD
