    I have a 2011 Volvo C30 T5 and it's running rough and a check engine light came on.. Shop told me the timing belt might have junoed a tooth and I should probably get a new motor installed. They said they don't have time to do a compression test. They said it looks like the tensioner failed.
    Is there any chance my engiine is okay? My car drives with a loss of power. I hope to hewr from you.

      Sorry for delayed response. I went back with Honda OEM timing chain, auto tensioner, chain guides, all worked well. Everything is marked on the k series in regard to timing. Find top dead center, lock the cam shafts in place, install the new chain, I think the chain has markings too. Easy but a pain. After installing rotate the engine manually and check the marks. Everything should be aligned or very close at tdc.

      I was doing a timing chain on my 2007 f150 4.6 2v. The driverside cam sprocket shifted on me when I torqued it down. I moved it back to what I think is the correct location. The chains lined up and I was able to get everything in place. I used the crank bolt to turn the engine without any of the covers on and I didn't receive any resistance. I checked the cylinders to make sure the pistons & valves weren't hitting everything looked and felt good. I just want to make sure everything is correct before I put everything back together and try to turn it over.

After I did spark test and air compression using brake cleaner it started to knock then it went away the next day I recently did get a water pump and timing belt replaced I’m thinking maybe my timing belt wasn’t set correctly it lasted a few days then it picked up a p0344 code then my car lost power and it eventually wouldn’t start.

    2012 toyota camry rattle noise when i start n drive also when i start it kinda sounds like its flooding? if that makes sense.
    one shop said my timing chain is loose I take it to toyota they say my chain wasnt stretched but it could be something within it but my intake timing def needs to be replaced.Was it possible for me just to replace the gears without the chain? Im potentially spending 4k on a repair i might not even need man this shit sucks. Said its too late to put the old chain back on I have to go thru with the chain + the gears but told me the gears was the cause of the rattling. Does that explain how my car starts rough too?

      I don't see it as an issue if the timing chain is backward. Timing mark must be lined up prior to installing the timing chain. If you're not sure about timing marks, look at the timing chain. The link will be colored. That is where the mark is at on the timing chain.

    Car engine was cutting out, it would jerk and then a few seconds after the jerk the engine went off like it was shut off by the driver, I'd turn it back on and it would start back up instantly and still repeat few minutes after, this happens regardless if i was idling in traffic or just have it on to warm up in my garage.
    So i got it scanned and it was a crankshaft code, replaced it and the same issue still persisted, prior to this a mechanic replaced the fuel pump and that wasn't it.
    Scanned it again and then it showed some CAMSHAFT code, i think P0011, they were changed and the random engine cut outs stopped, but this came with new problems, hard starting, and the car hesitated to move when i stepped on the gas, also would shake if in Drive D but in traffic (stationary) shaking would stop if engine ran and engaged in park P or i started to move, also the exhaust was shaking, not violently but it was.
    I took it back home feeling unsatisfied but then the next day i restarted it and it wouldn't start back up, what's weird now is i hear an usual sound while cranking the engine, i see the belts roll the accessories but it won't start up, this sound i speak of is around the head of the engine, i have a 2009 V6 Hyundai sonata, I'd appreciate your advice, I'm thinking the timing chain, now i have P0335, still a timing code

      @jan5818 ..Yes i did solve the issue after a few inspections, my issue was that the plastic cover that sets over the timing belt was not installed properly and one of its metal locks off limit after a few tries it was all seated in right place, there could be other issues cause that clicking sound, try visually inspecting everything but if issue persist to be fixed get a VW specialized mechanic and they could easily detect the cause before getting into more damage, good luck

Like you can no longer turn clockwise or counterclockwise? It was able to turn continuously but once the belt was replaced and all markings are were they are suppose to be, it no longer turns. only that 180 degrees I've mentioned.

    • @skip741x3
      @skip741x3 Před 3 měsíci

      usually not a problem, except for lower compression in that bank of cylinders and a small loss in power... If the engine is a non interference, no damage done, just realign the marks... if its an interference engine,,slipping any more than a tooth or 2 could be catastrophic as risk of valves hitting pistons can occur... most interference engines can tolerate a small variable in timing.. should be ok...
