    I have a compact Sony Cyber-shot camera that was reported to have a bit of a stabilizing issue. I will take it apart and explore the components to see if we can find what is causing that issue.

    Thanks for this video. I was able to apply the same fix as demonstrated and it worked perfectly. Though I did get confused when it came to removing the two ribbon cables on the back of the board (the part that you skipped ahead on). I would say as a criticism: it would be helpful if you could explain what you did during the time that you cut out of the video. In the video it looked like you were trying to flip the connector up, so that's what I tried to do at first. It took me a bit to figure out I just needed to pull the cable straight out.

      @@jasonp8710 fully noted and I appreciate that critique! I strive to find a balance of what to include and what not to include in my videos. Your feedback is important. Thank you for also expanding on what needs to be done to disconnect the cable. I'm sure your comment will be helpful to others. I plan to pin it for this reason.

    This was actually really helpful. I was working on a T77 with the same issue in the stabilization. Looking at the service manual didnt really give much information on how to take apart the Lens block but this video helped a lot. Unfortunately in my case the the coil assembly is different rather than being a block they placed the coil in a arch around the magnet which is a way better design but this mean my issue is some where else within the lens block. but after taking it a part and putting it back it stabilizes a little better.

      Glad it was of some help. It is interesting that Sony made that design change. You might have to replace the entire assembly in your case, unfortunately.

    Your “enlargement” camera is smaller than your regular camera. Thanks for the detailed explanation.

    hello, can you help me figuring out this camera? i have the same model, upon disassembly everything looks alright, but when putting the battery and turning it on nothing happens.. only thing that happens is some kind of coil whine while pressing the power button, so i don't think the problem is the battery.. any suggestions? thanks a lot for the video

      @@STKSOUND inspect battery terminals for corrosion. Then start troubleshooting the circuit for potentially bad capacitors or voltage regulators or other failed components.

    i have this camera and when i received it, it had no card in it and there was no way for me to get pictures off of it and on to another device. is there a chord of some sort for this camera to transfer photos off of it? i bought it second hand so i only received the camera and the battery

      Yes there is a proprietary cable that goes from USB to the Sony connector. Search the following on Google and you can buy one : Sony Cyber-shot DSC-T70 USB Cable

    Great explanation. Surprising they relied so much on glue.

      Firstly, thank you for watching and commenting!
      With as many things that I've taken apart and repaired even before going on this CZcams and business venture, I hate to say that I'm not surprised. I truly believe some things are engineered to a degree of planned failure/obsolescence. That being said, small things like this glue issue does allow for repairability.

    Have the exact same camera, the T70. Found it in storage, which has been in for about 10 years. The display screen in real blurry. Can't even make out what I'm looking at to take a picture. The camera's info on the screen is crystal clear but the display is very blurry. What could be the problem?

    • @HavingFunRepairs
      @HavingFunRepairs  Před 2 měsíci

      Does the screens blurriness change when you try manually zooming the camera lense? It's possible it is blurry because your camera is having difficulty focusing on the image. When you take a photo is the image blurry too?

    • @HavingFunRepairs
      @HavingFunRepairs  Před 2 měsíci

      Are the photos you are taking blurry too? Ensure AE mode is on and take a photo. Then upload the photo to a PC. If the photos are not blurry and it's just the screen, then most likely your screen needs to be replaced. However, if the photos are blurry too, then you have an issue with either the lense and/or stability sensor. These would be my best guess. Visually inspect your lenses and make sure to clean them with isopropyl alcohol.

    Hello Having Fun Repairs,
    I have the exact same camera that was repaired in this video. Followed your guide however the camera still shakes violently. I noticed that even though the stabilization coil/block is glued down, the lens still shakes violently. Is this a software/firmware issue? Or I just misaligned the block? Or do I have to replace the stabilization unit?
    Please reply, I use this camera daily since my phone camera sucks. But having a broken camera sucks more.
    Thanks Having Fun Repairs for making this guide.

    • @HavingFunRepairs
      @HavingFunRepairs  Před 6 měsíci +1

      It is a bit impossible to guess at the issue without having the device to see with my own eyes. However, I would recommend to recheck your work and also inspect any ribbon cables or connectors to make sure they are not loose or damaged. Barring what you discover you may be better off replacing the SS unit. I know that's not much help, but that is most likely what I would do.

    Small compact items are more intimidating to try to repair yourself in my opinion.

      Agreed! For myself, it's not so much a lack of technical knowledge. It's the precision in handling. I don't like straining my eyes, even through a microscope.

      Sounds like the screen and digitizer will need to be replaced. I say both because I believe they are packaged as one item. You might be able to find a replacement on eBay.

    • @HavingFunRepairs

      Unfortunately only simple suggestions. Ensure you battery isn't bad, if so replace. Check for corrosion inside the battery housing and especially at the terminals. If any clean it out with some isopropyl alcohol. Anything beyond that would require disassembly.

      The prices that was paid in the era that this camera was popular would be way different than today. Probably only a few bucks compared to the $20 or more that was paid almost 16/17 years ago.
