- Join me as I dive into the world of the weirdest Finnish games we played as kids! Today, we're not focusing on mainstream titles like Alan Wake or Max Payne, but rather the edgy, old freeware games that left a mark on our childhood.
First, we explore Åkesoft, a notorious group of teenage developers from the 90s. Known for their controversial and technically basic games, they created titles like Obituary Simulator and the cult classic Invataxi. Invataxi, where you play as a blind, deaf, mute, and paralyzed taxi driver, became a hit among Finnish teens. However, Åkesoft's infamous game BepaQuest led to a lawsuit after revealing a bullied classmate's phone number, causing significant distress and legal repercussions for the developers.
Next, we look at 'Oikeutta Eläimille' (Justice for Animals), inspired by a real-life incident where a fur farmer shot at animal activists. This game allows you to defend your fur farm from activists using a shotgun, reflecting the controversial nature of its inspiration.
Then, we delve into 'Damage: The Sadistic Butchering of Humanity,' a game featuring extreme violence and chaos. Follow the story of Mike Massacre as he wreaks havoc on everything in his path, leading to a dramatic and violent conclusion. Despite its crude gameplay, this game stands out for its sheer audacity and shocking content.
We also revisit RYSSÄN KAUHU a patriotic game where you defend Finland from invading Russians. This simple yet engaging game was a staple on school computers, offering a unique way to learn about Finnish history through gameplay.
Finally, we discuss 'Uuno Karkaa Maalle,' based on the beloved Finnish comedy character Uuno Turhapuro. This Commodore 64 game captures the humor and challenges of the original films, providing a nostalgic trip down memory lane for many Finnish gamers.

Well, I think we have irrefutable proof.
But memes aside, we have absulute bangers, mainly some indie stuff like Noita (Finnish arson simulator), Baba is You, Ultrakill, Cruelty Squad, My Summer Car (Accurate Finland Rally Sim), Barotrauma, Fear and Hunger and also the abslute masterpeices from Remedy Entertainment like Alan Wake, Control and Quantum Break!
Liero, Tapan Kaikki, Death Rally are more banging than any of those ;D
don't forget SCP containment breach (same devs made barotrauma)
Developer Erasure has released couple of cool games. ZeroRanger and Void Stranger. Void Stranger definitely fits under the lable of "weird and sadistic games".

Tapan Kaikki, Triplane turmoil Pizzaworm, V-wing, Wings,Slick'n'slide, Rally-sport and Areena were all great games too

Feels like this video was tailored for me. I was the first person to upload a video of Inva-taxi. Never heard about that one myself until my friend mentioned it to me. Then the video went viral for some reason :D I was also the first (only one?) to record a complete playthrough of Damage. Though Damage wasn't a bad game, Finnish developers actually made some good games. Especially in the 90s, such as Tapan Kaikki, Mine Bombers, Slick and Slide and Stardust. Not just cringe crap. EDIT: SpurguX is also worth checking out and would fit well into this video ;)

Having played a shitload of oldschool finnish games back in the 90's (thanks Mikrobitti Huvi&Hyöty CD's and a couple of friends with a great taste), there's one minigame I think would be considered ultra rare nowadays if someone still has it, my copy might still exist somewhere but no idea where to look for it. "Myrkky" magazine had this one minigame that came with one of their issues on a 3,5inch floppy disk where your objective was to pop pimples on a dudes face. Very cool.

These and all those pornographic images... I guess the teachers weren't too concerned about the games when the students were downloading "art pictures" and then copying them to the computers that weren't connected to the internet. Our teachers were regularly deleting files - often because someone got caught looking at the secret folder 😂

Where is my summer car? That is the avrage finnish summer exparience. Building Satsuma, drinking beer with money that you dont have and drunk drving under a train. These are the things every finnish person does so

Åkesoft was named after their first ever game, where a duck named Åke swims around in a swimming pool.
