Beautiful work..I call it a French edger...👍😬..I am a’Graduate’ of the ‘Stohlman School’...40 yrs with the hides....best hobby imaginable I respect the fact that you do not sew across any straps except that one piece 😬( No perforation)

This is how I imagine Mulberry bags were made back in the 70s/80s. Now they are incredibly expensive but mass-produced tat, made from split hide glued to a backer ( which frequently comes apart, looking at complaints on various mulberry groups.) You can’t tell them apart from Michael Kors etc in terms of style,
Its good to see proper leatherwork skills still being used to create wonderful leather bags.

@@JHLeather it makes so much sense, I appreciate you doing the whole video, I usually edit 99% out, and I also realized that using a pattern would be really useful. I’m finishing a full sized two large inside pocket messenger bag (10oz) an entire double shoulder, real heavy lol. A pattern would have been super helpful. I subbed and really enjoy your content!! Plus I need one of those knives you are using for skiving and making corners. I like how it’s cut off a bit. Have a great day.

Great video, thank you. How can you improve the look of the flesh side of the bag strap, especially when using a swivel clip?
Have you tries using Tokonole or Tan Kote on the flesh slide followed by brisk rubbing with a smooth piece of glass or other burnishing tool? If the fibers are too loose, like a shaggy dog, you could try shaving with a safety skiver first.
