    I bought a Mini 3 recently for exactly this use. Having done photogrammetry when I studied Photographic Science, I am still fascinated with it 30yrs later.

    • @daveys
      @daveys Před 9 dny +1

      @@atindan - I have a Mini 3 Pro, but any drone that can take still images can do photogrammetry. You do need decent capacity on an image card and decent flight time but then it’s just a case of plugging the images into the relevant computer package. Have a look at MeshRoom.

    • @daveys
      @daveys Před 9 dny

      @@drewskiakg2719 - I had a play with meshroom with mixed results, but my computer wasn’t really up to the task of building a mesh with hundreds of photos. Might give it another try when I get a moment.

    Nice !! For Reality Capture though I would suggest using RAW files instead of JPEG and convert it to TIF (16 bit for texture projection and automatic 8bit conversion for model generation)

    I use it for roof inspections, paid off in 2 weeks, just wish there was a software way to turn off the bottom sensors rather than using tape to cover them (yes I fly that close to things), however my first one had a compass crabbing issue on RTH and the right arm mount failed (both a manufacturing quality control issue) DJI explained this to me and replaced it with a new in the box sealed drone, they called me to extend their apologies as they explained that they could clearly see it wasn’t anything I could have caused. All in all for the size it’s a lot of drone! However it’s weight class doesn’t make it any cheaper on $20M liability insurances, costs the same as the Mavic 3

    I really like the new mini 4 pro. I’m new to the game and am thinking of starting a side gig for when I retire from my day job. I’m totally green. That being said, if you were me, would you get the mini 4, or opt for the DJI Air 3? Can I do enough jobs with the mini 4 to subsidize myself, or is the Air 3 going to be more diversified for getting more business type jobs?

  • @Instant_Nerf
    @Instant_Nerf Před 2 lety +1

    You didn’t explain this: so manually shot the images but did you just do a Circe with quick shots and manually took pictures. Or did you manual turn a 360 ? Because that would be hard to stay steady and at the same height and distance. I was able to do this with my mini se using litchi app. Recorded the video.. took footage and made a photos from it. And I can honestly say my 3D model is as good as yours. Altho the 3D object is missing a lot of data because I was not able to get any footage from about 5m .. straight on or so because there were too many trees and wires too close to the subject.. still trying to find a way to do it .. but I’m not sure I want to risk the drone hitting all those wires, branches and other obstacles .. any suggestions?

    • @UAVISUALS
      @UAVISUALS  Před 3 měsíci

      An argument can definitely be made for that yes, as it allows the drone to do other things like mapping and modelling using 3rd party software, so if you're wanting to get into mapping and modelling and dont have the budget, the Mini 3 Pro is a great start. Objectivly overall Mini 4 Pro improves on the key features of the Mini 3 Pro in every way, especially with Camera Performance with 10bit Dlog-M HLG, 4K 100fps and omnidirectional obstacle avoidance, not to mention inclusion the of Waypoints that allows for repeatable missions over time. The 3rd party software abilities can allow for these types of repeatable flight capabilities in the Mini 3 Pro, and it's camera still performs well with 10bit D-Cinelike and 4K 50fps capabilities. So it just comes down to what your priorities are and how you will mostly want to use your drone!
