  • In the pre-Nuragic period in Sardinia several ancient cultures spread, including that of Ozieri and Monte Claro.
    They created pottery rich in more or less complex geometric figures, used to cook, consume and store food and drink, as well as to celebrate ancestral rites.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    What did they eat in the Neolithic? From the traces found we know that the Neolithic diet included:
    - Cereals such as wheat, barley, spelled and bread obtained by mixing flour and water (without leavening);
    - Legumes such as peas, lentils, broad beans;
    - Fruit such as figs, plums, cherries, apples, pears and plums;
    - Goat meat, wild boar, deer, mouflon, prolagus (similar to a rabbit but with rounded ears), birds, milk;
    - Other foods such as soups, molluscs, land and sea snails.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Before the construction of the imposing nuraghi, in the period that goes from the 3200 BC at 2800 BC, the culture of Ozieri (or of San Michele) spread in Sardinia, the first Sardinian population to practice agriculture and breeding.
    It was the first great Sardinian culture that dedicated itself to the cult of the mother goddess, of the god Toro, to the cult of the dead with the construction of hypogeal tombs (domus de janas) but above all it created a particularly refined ceramic for the Neolithic era.
    Its name, Cultura di Ozieri (or of San Michele) derives from the grotto of San Michele, near Ozieri, where finely worked vases with tripods were found, with geometric motifs and anthropomorphic figures elegantly engraved on clay and colored with red ocher .
    The ceramics were created by shaping the clay by hand without the use of a lathe and decorated with continuous, zigzag lines, with dotted bands, with triangles, stars, relief figures, circles and semicircles and spirals.
    The most fascinating figure is certainly the stylized human figure; feminine forms with bell-shaped skirts, but also groups of people with outstretched legs and arms that are gripped as in a sacred dance.
    The incisions were made using shells, woods, bones or pointed instruments; often they were highlighted by white or red pasta, inserted inside the incisions.
    Once modeled, the ceramics were cooked in the fire and blackened with smoke until they were smooth to the touch.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The prenuragic culture of Monte Claro developed more recently than that of Ozieri, between 3000 and 2500 BC.
    It takes its name from a hill in Cagliari where important findings were made; subsequently they were found throughout the island, but in particular in the Sassari area, in the Nuoro area, in the Campidano area and in the Oristano area.
    This culture has left us large cylindrical vases, simply decorated with hundreds of small incisions, most likely used for the preservation of agricultural products.
    In more recent villages traces of metallurgy were also found, such as a hand-held crucible, daggers with leaf-shaped blade and copper awls, lead clusters for adjusting clay pots.
      Il 90% di queste ceramiche rappresentano la cucina neolitica sarda; venivano usate per preparare, cucinare e consumare cibi e bevande.
      In pratica rappresentano la vita casalinga dell'epoca; dopo aver cacciato, pescato e raccolto viveri, ci si riuniva intorno al fuoco e si preparava da mangiare con pentole e scodelle e si consumava su piatti e ciotole, olle, tazze, bicchieri e quant'altro tutti insieme, oltre 6000 anni fa!
      @@thesilentube83 si infatti erano oggetti di uso comune ma sono stupendi perché col passare del tempo ci raccontano la storia e sono stupendi manufatti. Fino agli anni sessanta infatti i ceramisti di oggi... si chiamavano stovigliai, facevano gli oggetti che venivano usati quotidianamente nelle case per cucinare mangiare e conservare, anzi esistevano delle grandi conche per fare il bucato.
      Poi mano a mano sostituiti con alluminio e altri materiali.
