God of War Ragnarök is an action-adventure video game developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It released worldwide on November 9, 2022, for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, marking the first cross-gen release in the series. It will be the ninth installment in the God of War series, the ninth chronologically, and the sequel to 2018's God of War.
Ragnarök is set in the world of Norse mythology but expands upon the previous game's narrative, with an even greater focus on exploration and open-world gameplay. While God of War (2018) allowed the player to access six of the nine realms of Norse mythology, Ragnarök's expanded focus sees the player exploring each of the nine realms, including the new additions of Svartalfheim, the industrial abode of the Dwarves; Vanaheim, the lush home of the Vanir gods; and Asgard, the golden land of the Æsir gods. Midgard, the primary realm of the 2018 installment, is heavily featured but is now a frigid wasteland, dramatically changed by Fimbulwinter, a three-year long winter that began upon the conclusion of the previous game. The Lake of the Nine, previously navigable by means of a boat in the previous game, is now frozen over. Svartalfheim is explorable to the same degree as Midgard was in the previous game. Alfheim, Helheim, and Niflheim all return, with an expanded focus and character exploration.
Taking place three years following the events of the previous game, Fimbulwinter, a great winter that spans three summers, is drawing to a close which will begin the prophesied Ragnarök. Kratos and his teenage son Atreus begin to traverse the nine realms to seek out a means to prevent Ragnarök while attempting to uncover answers behind Atreus' identity as Loki. Their journey will lead them to Týr, the Norse God of War. Their conflict will lie with Thor, the Norse God of Thunder. - Hry

Just a tip that I’ve come across, check out the video by SwanyPlaysGames “God of War Ragnarok This build makes Kratos unkillable mid - late game” … This is by far the _best_ armor I have seen in this game and I even played with it on Give me GOW difficultly and it holds up nicely! Now that you have unlocked Draupnir, you will be able to unlock all the pieces needed, so I highly recommend checking it out if u want :)

Ah ok.. I don't really watch all his series.. Some are just dragging out to long for me, especially when they are running 23/25min.
"you killed my son's, slept in their beds" I'm not gonna lie that line definitely was tragic and made me feel like Atreus was in the wrong for essentially living under the same roof as the two people that him and his father killed without feeling guilty, but then I remember that those are the same two people that attempted to murder him and his father for no reason.

I agree, the character development in this game is surprising... and amazing! What a good, tragic, story.
A tip for mystic doors is you don’t have to run around the circle. Just stand still and wait for them to finish talking, essentially it’s a loading screen. Just make sure to look forward because it can spawn where you look. This is how it worked in the 2018 game so I’m assuming it works in this game.
Thor is really showing his true nature more and more, him throwing up was a nice touch lol. curious to hear even more of his backstory as the video unfolds

“I wonder why Atreus keeps getting all this XP. We must get something later on in the game.” Typical Brad. I don’t even think he knows he can use those abilities when he’s Kratos because when he gets the squirrel runic he says Atreus gets so much health. Lol.

Yeah Brad misses out on some powerful upgrades a lot of times on initial play thrus but he’s probably trying to record, edit, and get so many out a day that he can’t take the time to really think about some stuff.
I love the long format, multiple episode gameplay that you do Brad. It lets the story breathe. Plus it makes for great binge watching and it feels like I'm watching a movie/series

Yup. The writing in this game is absolutely unbelievable. It’s so refreshing to see the gaming industry able to recruit such talented writers. Because tbph, Hollywood has just about degraded to rinsing and repeating the same old garbage every few years. It’s become brainless corporatized trash. Then you get stuff like this, Horizon, etc. where the stories are deeper than even the gameplay. I love it.
Atreus is low-key wise... I gotta agree with Brad, the main reason I keep coming back to the videos is the character development. it's really intriguing how a game can hold so much.. weigh? I definitely see myself revisiting this series in the future. even buying it for myself at some point.
This would be a difficult game to make into a movie
