- As you probably already know, every society must have a political system in order to maintain recognized procedures for allocating valued resources. In large, complex societies, many decisions must be made about the rights and responsibilities of citizens. For a society to be orderly, its members must obey the rules that are established. A society’s political institution determines and enforces the laws as well as punishes those who disobey them. This video will discuss the two major political systems in the world: democracy and totalitarianism.
Before watching this video, I had no idea that totalitarianism could take various forms, including communist, theocratic, and tribal systems. Understanding how each type can influence the global economy alongside other forms of government was eye-opening. It's a clear demonstration of the interconnectedness of our world, where even seemingly obscure changes can create significant ripples affecting entire nations for better or worse. This video provided valuable insights into global dynamics.
My family immigrated to the United States during the Vietnam War. I'm somewhat familiar with the government systems around the world as I often hear about the restrictions the elders in my family mentioned growing up. I've always been grateful being born in the states as I heard there were more cons than pros regarding the government and political systems in my home country and surrounding countries. I'm sure most of us leans toward democracy as that is how the United States operate, although I'm glad this video included dictatorship and totalitarianism as well as the differences between these political systems and how it affects their citizens. This video provides insight as to how different countries govern their people.

Being born and raised in the US I really only ever saw one time of political system. It wasn't until I got older that I started learning that not every country does things the same as the US. This video did a great job a showing another type of system, Totalitarianism. Also, its four different types, Communist, Theocratic, Tribal, and Right-Wing.

Personally, I hadn't previously discerned the distinct separation between dictatorship and totalitarianism, and the video elucidates it clearly. Dictatorship revolves around the SOURCE of governing power, typically a single individual, while totalitarianism centers on the SCOPE of governing power, with a single party suppressing any alternative party or individual with differing perspectives.
I enjoyed watching this video about the democracy and totalitarianism political systems. Living in the United States, I am obviously biased to a representative democracy since it is all I have ever known, but I thought one advantage from totalitarianism that was worth mentioning was how their is one person who makes one decision and that is where all resources are allocated. Versus having to check off multiple different boxes and jump through different hoops. Overall, I still believe that democracy is a superior political system to totalitarianism.

After seeing this video I see how fortunate we are to have a democracy form of government. Although it can lead to corruption, it gives us greater freedom to do business as we want. Although totalitarianism has some great advantages, your own voice is a greater power than all other advantages.

Obviously nobody is going to elect a dictator that kills people or lowers their quality of living, but they don't always have a vote. In my opinion, this video seems spot on regarding limitations of democracy, as it relates to what we are experiencing in the U.S. I believe to some extent, both republicans and democrats would say we have corruption, become inefficient with bureaucracies and most recent elections do not reflect the will of the people. One thing I was interested to learn more about is the different types of totalitarianism that can appear in political structures. After watching this video I can now recognize differences between communist totalitarianism, theocratic totalitarianism, tribal totalitarianism, and right wing totalitarianism.

Democracy gives people more rights and civil rights, Whereas Totalitarianism has one political figure control over all spheres of human life. Dictators can issue death warrants but also struggle because the checks and balances do not exist unless the dictator can implement it.

This video over political systems in the world was very formative and educational. I knew that Saudi Arabia was strict on following the rules set in place because I was recently there for a pilgrimage. I did not know that what they follow is a called a theocratic totalitarianism system until after watching this video. I do think the video made it seem more degrading than what reality is. Being a practicing Muslim, I know what Islam stands for and what its beliefs toward society are. Theocratic totalitarianism is an extreme form of following the religion that they use in Saudi Arabia because it is the religions most important and historical site. However, Islam in my opinion is the most merciful religion in the world. This video was awesome in presenting other forms democracy and totalitarianism.
