  • Audi brought out the first e-tron in 2019. Now Audi has given the e-tron an update, including a larger battery and a new name, “Q8 e-tron”. The power of the e-tron 50 is also up - from 313 HP to 340 HP from two electric motors.
I have driven thousands of kilometres in various e-tron models, including those with some of the early electronics bugs. Early models also had a smaller battery and poorer range, but with the new 89 kWh (net) battery, the range has increased significantly.
Expect to get ca. 350-400 km of range in daily use and with highway speed at max. 120 km/h. And expect a lot less if you use the top speed of 200 km/h because at higher speeds the consumption increases significantly.
I tested the acceleration 0-100 km/h to be less than the claimed 6 sec. and my charging test also bettered Audi's promise; although the e-tron only charges with 150 kW at a DC charger, 10-80% took just 28 mins.
This a big car: 491 cm long and 219 cm wide and a turning circle of ca. 12.2 meters. It weighs a whopping 2.6 tons.
The design is modern contemporary, if not a bit conservative. I still love the way the charging ports on both sides open.
The Q8 e-tron is a very competent car for your everyday drive and for long trips, too. The Q8 e-tron is not cheap but offers good value and a high quality. It drives very well, and it is quiet and spacious. It cannot hide that it has a few years to its e-tron name, but it holds up well.

And when you return from the Service from AMAG giving it 3 out of 5 stars is spot on!

Very nice review. With the accent, it was almost as like watching a Werner Hertzog docu 😅

This is a beast! A really good ride. And your critic points were accurate, I hope Audi continues to be in the forefront of technology by providing software and (maybe) hardware updates.

Also, curious about the calculus whether to get this model over a hybrid model. It would be good to hear why you think buyers make that choice.

All depends on your needs. If you often travel very long distances >500 km and if the charging infrastructure is poor, then the hybrid may be worth considering. Or maybe test the e-tron 55 with the larger 106 kWh battery, maybe also worth considering.

Well done review. Thank you very much for this great video and your opinion. How did you decide? Which car did you choose?

Excellent presentation skill and clarity. Surprised at excellent camera work and editing. Tale of two cars, interior and exterior. Given EVs are known for acceleration, surprised at performance. Range also becomes an issue. Perhaps the legacy body penalizes EV performance. The quality standard is high, so right for certain buyers. Maybe a rating out of 5 would give you more leeway.

Hi Morten, nice video, good summary. Need to add the plug&charge compatibility with the Q8 at a charging hub e.g. in Zurich. The software improved in the last 4 years. In combination with the myAudi App is perfect. Sending tours with HPC etc. The speed and power with the new 50 model is enough in my opinion. Still 250kW compared to my old 55 with 300kW. To be honest enough for a family car and especially smooth driving.
A bit disappointed about your remark for the price. As you know AMAG is giving always discount. Compared to Genesis GV70 the net prices are very similar. Thought you will say something about comparison with other similar EV‘s 😉

Thx ! The price is the price on the price tag, and sometimes you do get a discount, yes. Genesis GV 70 is significantly cheaper with comparable spec., but Genesis is not Audi... I liked the Audi charging hub, try it if you are around Hallenstadion.

@@morten_hannesbo 15% discount in most of Europe.. that leaves the car well below 100k
