I personally know men and women who gather in the name of Jesus for the sweat lodge. If Jesus was here as a man today, I don't believe he would see anything wrong with gathering together for prayer in this way. We do it the same way as in a concrete building called church. Of course sweat lodge is more physically straining but I also believe that if it's the way you connect to the Holy Spirit and be in tune for worship and prayer, then do it. God wants to know you and if this is the way you open up to Him then go for it. God made me this way on purpose, to glorify Him in my own skin. God doesn't want to strip me of who I am as a Native man, but to use it for His glory.

I have done literally thousands of sweat lodge ceremonies before I became a born again Christian. It is a ceremony. It is ritual. You can believe what you want to believe, but what does Scripture say about mixing the ways of the Lord with the ways of the nations. Syncretism is the main reason why the Lord was angry with Israel all throughout the Old Testament. From Moses to Malachi, God says to not mix the two ways.

But in actual honesty, it has nothing to do with culture. I recently solidified my faith with Jesus Christ, and excepted him as my Lord and Savior. I asked him to reveal himself to me, or show me a sign, so I know he is real. After having this intense prayer session that emotionally changed me Instantaneously. It was a supernatural experience all the way through. I was drenched in my own tears, and I had repented of my sins in the most genuine way possible and I believe that is the trick to this. To ask as genuinely as possible by saying sorry for all of the things that you could possibly think of that you did as a sin. And then, once you accept him as your Lord, you will start to feel these things inside of you, in unimaginable ways that are extremely positive. The best way I can describe it because it’s almost impossible to do so but in words, I would say, I was overwhelmed with unconditional love, mercy, and grace. that night I went outside to go get some fresh air and by the time I was about to head back in the house I saw this bright, fiery, intense light in the form of a cross. Immediately I felt that love and peace and it was a supernatural experience. It was just staring at me, and I was in such total shock and im awe. I knew immediately that this was a sign that I had asked for.
The very next day, I noticed everything in my life changed. All of my interests, such as music, movies. Even the jokes that I used to laugh at all, became petty and nonsensical out of nowhere. I again you that this was the Holy Spirit that was working inside of me, changing me as a man completely for the things that I could not change on my own. I even cussed like a sailor, but that dissolve out of my mouth and now when people cuss around me, I get extremely bothered and have to leave if it gets too much. That is a miracle in itself because there was nothing I could possibly do to change that. I really cussed a lot.
The reason why I came home initially to get on my knees and pray was because I was desperate for any kind of option for help. For the last 15 years of my life, I had battled back-and-forth with alcohol addiction that later evolve to opiates. In the last five years of this Demonic faith in my life that was so dark and evil, I had gone through such intense depression where every waking moment I would think of suicide. I was completely exhausted from the oppression, and that is why I cried out to Jesus. I have tried every single currently, treatment center and alternative medicine, but nothing was ever put a dent into this thing. But overnight all of the stuff, just dissolved and dissipated. I immediately knew that I was attacking the wrong thing which was the addiction. In reality we have what’s called demonic attachments, and that is why when the light comes inside of you instantly, when you accept Jesus and repent of all your sins in the most genuine way, possible the yoke around your neck that these demonic attachments have on you shatter instantaneously. You cannot see it because it’s all Spiritual, but if you had glasses, I could see the fourth dimension and above you would literally see black, shadowy figures that is controlling you with a leash like a dog in the form of a yolk around her neck, and that completely dissolves because king Jesus heals you. That is how people are able to quit cold turkey overnight with things like opiate, addiction, alcohol addiction, porn, addiction, addiction, to cussing. Marriage problems, always angry at someone or something, never having peace in your life, etc. whatever it may be all of these are demonic attachments and you have to ask God to relieve you and release you from these attachments. You first have to take away the foot holes anything in your house, such as Ouija board, dream, catchers, statues, idols, crystals, anything that ungodly you need to get it out doesn’t matter how much money you spent on the item get it all out it’s not worth losing your soul eventually because they’re attached to those things as foothold. Even the music collection get it all out Satan was actually a musician, and he uses music as one of his primary tools.
If you do not believe anything that I am saying because you don’t understand the spiritual side of this world that is because you have never been taught this. You have been deceived by Satan your entire life because he has program this thing that you guys called the matrix. From beginning of birth to status quo you watch TV shows, movies, mainstream, media news, etc. these or program you into thinking a certain perception of what “reality” is. Everything that you see through that tube 99% it’s all fake. Again if you do not believe me, go to the quietness and privacy of your room tonight and surrender it all to king Jesus. Again the trick to this is to ask him to forgive you in the most genuine way possible from the bottom of your heart. In order to do this, you need to humble yourself at first and bring all of your brokenness all of the hardships that you’re currently enduring whatever you’re sick and tired of in life, he will heal you so talk to him like he would to a compassionate, loving father. Good luck tonight and God bless.

I am a Christian who happens to be a Sri Lankan Canadian. My home church in Sri Lanka taught me how to be a light without forsaking the good things in my culture which glorified God . There are things which can be redeemed. I grew up listening to praise and worship music in my native tongue which used our native musical instruments and art forms which was inspired by the power of the Holy Spirit because all that belongs to God anyway, Satan just hijacked and perverted everything that God created. On the other hand, I would not do yoga exercises as it opens the door to the devil. One of the things that God used to keep me alive as a teenager growing up there was a music of a Christian Metal band from Norway named Extol I put myself to sleep listening to their music many times, there were days I wondered if I’d wake up with a roof over my head (during wartime). Following Christ does not mean that you forsake the good things in your culture that bring honour to God. I was able to have intimate glimpses into many good things pertaining the lifestyle and culture of one First Nations people group in Northern B.C. when I was working up there which did not compromise my faith whatsoever such as fish camp and learning to bead :). I hope that this will be of some help. God bless you .Of course when we become Christians our identity is that we are children of God and should want more of Him. As He made us in His image the godly good things in our respective cultures are a reflection of Him.

"For whenever the Gentiles, who do not have the law, do by nature the things required by the law, these who do not have the law are a law to themselves. " Romans 2:14
"Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." Philippians 4:8
There is a line that is crossed where one commits the grave sin of paganism and this should never be taken lightly. But the church fathers frequently incorporated ideas and concepts from pagans that were not against the commandments of God. For example the classical metaphysical concepts were used as tools to explain theological realities. Like that Jesus Christ is the Word. Or the hypostatic union, etc... Also all peoples have long held legends of old, some of which speak about events in our ancient past. Like the great deluge, the defeat of the great sea serpent, the abominable giant offspring, the confusion of languages, etc... now our ancestors (whether from northern and eastern europe like mine or like the ancient American traditions) spoke of many of these things, though through cloudiness and confusion. So we should not treat them as we do the Word of God, but anything lawful and fitting that comes from our pagan ancestors should not just be thrown out if it is noble and true.
Also though we do not know for sure, I believe the first verse points to the fact that those who had not heard yet thr gospel, but loved God Almighty and did what is right will he saved by Jesus Christ as well.

Jesus taught his desciples for an important reason & purpose. After Christ's death, resurrection & ascension Those same desciples went N, S, E & west to many different Nations and cultures. And each of those disciples helped teach Christ teachings and adapted them to each of their very different cultures. They may have different ways in which they show gratitude and worship the Great creator and the Messiah. HOWEVER, they all were taught to know the trinity, to put God first and have a individual relationship with him, and to make their individual decisions to become saved and a born again Christian.
If these disciples would call different societies "heathens" and their practices "pagan" - when in reality they really are recognizing Christ in their own cultures way of doing so, then we lose them as believers and we disrespect their culture.
In human history, the most successful and largest missionary effort was that of Jonah. Jonah was actually a racist and looked down upon the Nineveh culture. And yet God still called him to go and preach the word to them. With much reluctance, Jonah finally gave in to God and obeyed him and went to Nineveh. And the entire culture, from the King down changed from their worshiping other entities and they looked up to the One true light and gave their lives to the one creator. I think there was over 500,000 in that City Maybe more!
God has a plan for his people and we need leaders to stop listening to the naysayers and go forth to the cultures that God wants to give his word to.
We must ask ourselves, are we helping others to see and find the truth or are we coming up with excuses? Obey the Truth only. To God be the glory! God is far more wise and patient and gracious and shows us love more than us fallen humans here on Earth. Have we been resurrected with Christ yet and brought back to the light? Or are we still stumbling here as a fallen son or daughter of Adam and Eve?
There are many confused people without knowledge today wandering around everywhere. These people need the truth for direction and wisdom.

This means that you tell the they were born sinners, they're bound for hell, and only by believing in Jesus Christ (that He is God who died for our sins) can they be saved. As Christians we don't condone worshipping demons. The goal is not to gather weeds, but grains. In other words, it's more important to bring in a few true converts, than a who lot of unconverted fakes. Let all hear the Gospel and God will save those that truly want to be saved.
