Great episode!
This is not only one of the best Columbo's, but also truly one of the best TV mysteries episodes of all-time. The plot, the way Columbo breaks down the killer and the final scene which Columbo seemingly was more intelligent than Ms. Melville as Ken Franklin is arrested for the murder of his partner. Columbo walks by Ms. Melville's painting with a quizzical look. This episode was directed brilliantly by Steven Spielberg before he went on to direct Jaws 4 years later and Duel with Dennis Weaver in 1972. A classic and perfect episode, one which I have watched way too many times. Yet it is that good!
Fun fact: this episode was in fact the intended second episode of the first season, directed by Steven Spielberg, but the creators, who directed the first episode, were so impressed with the Spielberg episode that they broadcast it first and their episode second.

Cool music but a big part of the Colombo today is the whole 70'ties colorite
it's cool but it feels way out of sync. this music is way funkier than would come into style for years.
Doesn't work for me.
