I've been to Budapest quite a few times and M3 was my favourite line. I liked the carriages and the door shutting noises before they were retrofitted as they are now. I liked the nostalgia of the soviet trains, but I suppose things have to move on and modernise 😢
Yeap.. There is a big amount of fans of 81-717/714 series trains. But as you have said, time goes on, and we tend to find more efficient solutions to everyday challenges (including public transportation). A nostalgia retro train is a great thing, but I think Budapest does not have any of those :/

A great upload! I have never been to Budapest, but it looks a trainspotters dream 😊 The refurbished soviet era stock, well I guess it is, is magnificent!! I can now say all the station names, not that easy for an English guy. The M1 line from Mexikói út to Vörösmarty tér is my favourite ❤️

Correction, the Ganz unit IS in the depot of M2 since February of 2022.
Вот честно, может это и вкусовщина, но мне кажется, что линия М3 до реконструкции была максимально фактурной и имела вайб своего времени, а это примерно 80-е года. Побывал я там в 2018 году и жил как раз на М3 и как раз успел застать на данной линии оригинальные номерные и ЕВшки, и этот контраст просто вау! вот приехал ты на Kalvin ter,на номере, перешел на 4-ю линию,а там уже беспилотные поезда! Короче, произвело на меня впечатление это метро, у меня все)
О да, контраст весьма впечатляющий. Особенно, если учитывать, насколько ушатанные были номерные и ЕВшки в Будапеште :)
Метро в Будапеште (1 736 000 жителей) - 5 основных линий. Всего их 9
Метро в русском Екатеринбурге (1 396 000 жителей) - 1 линия. 9 остановок.
Будапешт больше по размеру чем Екатеринбург, также это столица страны. Во всей Венгрии всего один метрополитен. И линий в метро Будапешта 4 а не 5 !
А что ты с Екатеринбургом сравниваешь, давай сравним со столичным метро, с московским например😂 кстати в марте в Красноярск прибыл проходческий щит Енисей для строительства метро.
