  • I have had my Alpha 7.2 Velomobile for over 2 years and have ridden it almost 10,000 miles. In this video, I go into detail about what I like about it and what I did not like but made improvements to, making it the best velomobile I have ever owned.
This is the video put out by Velomobile World regarding the new rear turn signal setup with the 2 Kellermann Atto lights: • Electric installation ...

Good video Dan. Many thanks. I have been commuting in a DF for the past 3 or 4 years doing about 6-7,000km per year. Like you I like the open wheels. Nice and easy to fix flats, which as every commuter knows, only happen the dark and /or rain! I went for tiller steering. DFs are twitchy but you get used to it. It dies free up space by the rear of the wheel wells for a bottle holder, Radical Designs velomobile bag etc. Tyres wise, I have settled on Conti Urban Contact all round as a nice compromise. They survive the UK winter on our pot hole filled roads. Noticeably quicker than the Marathons with no more punctures. I love the look of the Alpha 7 and the speed seems great. There is a guy on CZcams called Nick Heathman who has some videos of him in an Alpha 7 tearing it up in the very hilly countryside around Exeter in the UK - even trying out a one by setup with a 🎉70 tooth front ring and 11-40 cassette! Quick question - what is the luggage space like behind the seat and to the left hand side of the rear wheel well? I ask as that part of the Alpha looks narrower than the DF. I can get my backpack into that space in the DF.

Nice to hear someone commenting Alpha 7, now that so many seem to be raving about Bulk or Snoek. And to me, Alpha7 and DF are still the best looking velomobiles 🤘

    Nice overview and improvements!
I ride a second hand Quest myself, and am also constantly upgrading things to how I want it as well 😉
One small question, how many speed you have in the rear?
I saw an SRAM GX Type 2.1 in the rear, did the Alpha 7 originally come with X9 Grip Shifters (I wear cycling gloves btw, also on my Nazca Gaucho with Rohloff Speedhub) and what trigger shifters ar you using now?
I recently bought a GX to replace the X9 and use with the X9 shifter and a Shimano 11 -32 casette, but have issues setting it up. I also noticed the cable clears the swingarm nicely in your Velomobile, mine doesn't...
Thanks for any advice, and I wish you many happy and safe commutes and more!

Regarding the longer cranks and room up front, what's your shoe size and xseam?
