I recently watched this film and loved it. My favorite line was "Liar! Liar! ... You fall". If you don't understand that line or the agony that Paulie went through after her breakup with Tori, you have never been in love.
the ending scene where she jumps off the roof + the music they used had me on my couch crying my eyes out all night after i 1st watched this movie. the best LGBTQ movie ever made
I watched this movie in 2011. It Is now 10 years later ... I used to feel very much into the story and so touched by it ... I see it now and feel more frightened than sad.
Mary was a loyal friend to Paulie. I love how she stood up to Tori's sister when she said she shouldn't be friends with Paulie because people were talking.
+-internallyscreaming. Whether or not a lesbian film makes you want to take your life depends on your gender and your orientation. A straight male probably would not respond to a lesbian film as would a lesbian or bi-sexual male or female. But fear not - there has never been a lesbian film of any kind, good or bad, save this one. Videos, yes, not feature-length films.
+-internallyscreaming- CAROL with the beautiful Cate Blanchett and the cutie Rooney Mara also I CAN'T THINK STRAIGHT with Lisa Rey and Sheethal Sheth My two favorites movies :)
The movie is taken at my School Bishop's College School hahaha. It makes me wonder one I only heard about this film after my graduation. Nice DIning Hall, no? They make just perfect food. The best cafeteria I mean in Canada for sure. I always miss it. They have a salad bar, panini bar. two soup, three main courses plus coffee. tea, juice, yogurt, and milk are always available. I am vegan so they also has a vegan section per day lmao
Why??! I mean, I like this movie. But why paulie have to end her life? The ending made me sad:-( I want to believe she's still alive (in the movie) tho I know she isn't. Really sad!! I guess it's just that I don't have to question whoever wrote this story. Great movie. Just don't like the ending I'd rather see her moving on or waiting still for Victoria rather than killing herself.
Victoria wasnt the one who missed someone, paulie missed Victoria so much she ended it, and she wasnt going to get Victoria back, and she didnt want to live without her, thats why she decided to kill herself... that old lady/teacher of paulie... she know Paulie talked about not surviving without Victoria, she should have done something ;)
Really? I feel her a lot ... Did u ever have nobody in your life no family? And then you love someone and u know s/he loves u too but s/he decides to go after someone else only because of what others think. Nothing would be left. If the person is also a teenager, it is obvious why ..
Paulie suffered so much rejection- her adoptive mother, birth mother, everyone. Tori was the only one who loved her, something we all need. Paulie couldn’t live in this world without love. Without love, even babies die.
Tori did as well. She is a victim here too. Remember the letter scene? Here, I've got it transcribed for you: Tori: "I can't say what I mean, P... I mean, how could I ever really say to her what I mean? Even in a letter? I mean like... "Dear Mommy, I hate you. The most recent reason being that you went on about my teeth at Easter in front of all your gross friends... You want me to be like... your perfect Junior League girl, and grow up to do like charity balls and be like the concubine of some banker. Like you. But the truth of it is I am addicted to you... Like chocolate... I'm like... I just always want to be around you. I'm just like some stupid little puppy, and you just keep kicking my teeth in with your words. No... Your tone. And sometimes... I don't know... sometimes I wish you were dead..."" Her mother is abusive and the result of growing up with said abuse has left Tori in a state of constant panic and extreme need to receive the approval of her mother, which she NEVER does. Tori is incapable of enjoying a life where her choices made are her own because of this toxic relationship that has resulted at the hands of her abusive mother.
@@Tumbledweeb Look I get it and I feel sorry for tori too but at the same time when pauli decided to do *that* tori didn't shed a single tear, she was a standalone like everyone else, just watching and you can tell she was in shock, but mary, unlike tori, (and the other girls there) was sobbing her eyes out while saying pauli's name and begging her internally to not do that. Mary was more loyal to pauli than tori ever was in the whole movie.
@@holychaos5398 Everybody responds differently to witnessing tramatic events; If Tori is in a state of shock during that scene, she might have lost control of her own body and thus it being impossible for her to do anything at all except stand there and stare. Do you expect her to do the impossible here just so she will conform with some of the other girls in this scene? Isn't that what began this whole disaster in the first place? Tori being forced to conform to other girls, as expected by her mother? I've witnessed my own big brother, a mountain of a man, completely frozen to the ground due to state of shock; My mom, him and me were returning from summer vacation when we were first on scene where a horrific car accident had taken place. We all rushed over to an overturned vehicle that had 3 people trapped inside and badly injured. I remember seeing my brother wring his tshirt off of himself to use it to help stop someone's bleeding and then he just stopped in his tracks and just stared into the overturned wreckage, completely unable to move or look away. My mom, who is a Nurse's aid, was already in the process of helping the victims trapped in the car, but noticed right away what had happened to my brother. I had to be called over and physically get him to snap out of it cause he was not responding at all to my mom calling his name. Would you say that my brother is an asshole who was entertained by the victims injuries and suffering? Or would you say that the state in which the injured people were in caused him to lose control of himself and freeze up, unable to move or disconnect from the situation?
@@Tumbledweeb I'm very sorry for what happened to you and your family and no I wouldn't call your brother and asshole for just being paralyzed by fear but these are different situations, you and your family were not emotionally attached with those injured people, unlike tori and pauli, and yet mary seemed more sad for what was about to happen than tori (and everyone else too), just saying.....Maybe it was just the acting of the actress of tori but I didn't really felt anything from her part besides the state of shock, the actress of mary tho, she made me cry just watching her sobbing for pauli.
Okay..obviously you all need to be schooled ...Piper Perabo is stunning..and Jessica Pare..not so much..Google some pics of each and you will see...her acting was awesome as well. Have lived this movie for years..
Piper is a great actress. I liked her a lot in Coyote Ugly. She was in another LGBTQ movie where she plays a recently married woman who falls in love with another woman.
See unlike Tori I've chosen to stay by my friend, yes it means I get a lot of hate from TERFs and put up with family members who don't get it, and even family friends who are somehow triggered by her, but losing her would be a million times worse. Unlike Tori I'm not scared of what other people think.
Tori would have had some support from her friends. The one girl had said that she would have told people to get over it. It was her parents that would have probably disowned her. Sad.

I have not been in love, but I do understand this, and this entire movie is amazing to watch. In my opinion, a must watch for everyone ☺.
I do understand it, but please guys not all breakups have to end in suicide.

Piper Perabo's uncompromising energy in this movie reminds me of Angelina Jolie's in "Girl, Interrupted".

I feel like the movie is so dramatic it hurts. But when I first saw it I was really into it
It's safe to say that I really really loved the movie until they broke up. I still like the movie though.
When she screamed...🥺💔
Something about Piper Parabo reminds me slightly of Angelina Jolie. Anyways, fantastic film! I just watched it for the first time earlier today.
Funny you should say that. She reminded me more of Hilary Swank.
This is the only lesbian movie i ever seen and actually like
I take it you have not seen many.
I love piper perabo
the hawk is the only other character as free as ms perabos character. shes amazing.
*BUT I REALLY LOVE MARY!!*💛
SHE DIDN'T LET PAULIE BE ALONE 😭💛😭
because she is the narrator of the story :D
Mary was a loyal friend to Paulie. I love how she stood up to Tori's sister when she said she shouldn't be friends with Paulie because people were talking.
If you have Netflix, it's on there.
Wow!!! Now I've got to see this film!
Thanks for the upload.
Does anyone know any lesbian films that won't make me wanna kill myself

P.S - Of course, she would have been recruited secretly, the school having been told that she died from her injuries.
Best movie ever
My best friend is named Tori.. and she broke a girls heart. Not to this extent but still
And they were roommates
Piper Perabo > Angelina Jolie

Is it just me or are her two teachers lesbian lovers?
Yeah that's the feeling i got too
The older teacher definitely knew the heartbreak of unrequited love.
The movie was based on the novel The Wives of Bath, set (think) in the 50s. Yes, the younger teacher was in a S.S.relationship.
Did Paulie really died in this movie or it was just really a dream of Victoria that scene was?
Erialc Crasher she died, because she thought that there's no future
