Hej hej allihopa! ("Hey everyone" in Swedish) We are Chloé, the Kiwi, and Ludvig, the Swede. We met at a Ski Resort in Canada and have since been travelling the whole world together. So far... we got engaged in the snowy mountains, hiked through Norway, flown a propeller plane around Sweden, visited 20 (ish) US states, cruised through the Mediterranean, Iceland and Greenland, road tripped through the whole of New Zealand in a campervan and now we're in the process of moving to CANADA! Phew! Clearly we hate the word boring.
Our aim is to provide you with helpful travel tips and entertainment from around the globe, hopefully inspiring you to EXPLORE MORE! We love adventure ...with a touch of luxury. You can expect to see lots adventure, along with a generous dose of unique hotels, AirBnbs, luxury stays and business class flights (lol, I say this with my fingers AND toes crossed).
Don't forget to subscribe and say hey! We'd love to connect with you!

Transatlantic cruises are the best!!! Especially westbound because of the extra hour. I went on Voyager's sister ship, Adventure of the Seas. Of my 33 cruises, I easily put it in my top 4 (with my first one on a now defunct line Renaissance Cruises, only 100 passengers on the ship, Sun Princess' Acapulco to Fort Lauderdale Panama Canal, and Silverseas' Athens to Venice).
Iceland brings both sad and good memories. My father passed away on the flight to Reykjavik (where my parents were starting a Silverseas cruise to Southampton where I would join in the next segment to Lisbon). So, quick unfortunate change of plans (I rarely praise US airlines but thank you Delta Airways for taking care of mom until my brother arrived!!!) and I fly to Iceland instead of Heathrow (well over $40k+ worth of cruise fares out the window too; no future credit, no nothing - yeah, 6 star line service considering my parents had well north of 250 nights cruised with them...).
The people were so absolutely kind and helpful. We ended up staying a week to take care of cremation and repatriation of the ashes. But while sadness permeated my mother, brother, and I we tried to make the best of things when we had time. We did silly, low key, tourism in Reykjavik which was perfect to keep the mind off things. At city hall we visited the big relief map which was very interesting. Walked past the PM's house. Tried to visit the big church but it was closed because a local politician had passed away too so they ended up firing up the crematorium especially for him and squeezed my dad in too (no... not at the same time... sigh...). Went to a fish restaurant and I actually tasted 3 small morsels of whale - which they can still hunt legally. Honestly, a mushy consistency and not all that tasty IMO; glad I tried it but won't eat whale again.
If I ever go back - and it's not Iceland's fault that my father died on the flight there - I will definitely eat at the port's little hot dog stand again. What a fun thing that was!!! 😂 Those who know, know!!!

Wow , what a story. So sorry to hear about your father passing - what an unfortunate situation to be in. It’s great that you were still able to see some of the sights while in Iceland and spend time with your family. Thanks for sharing :)

Will the walking difficult for someone who is not athletic or doesn't do much exercise on these excursions?

    • @chloeandludvig

Yes! Everything we did in Iceland was a ship excursion through Royal Caribbean :) it was just relaxing booking something like this rather than trying to figure it out on our own :)
