  • so many warm local people & inviting me into their homes & making sure i eat plenty, a genuine friendly smile & sharing their relaxed daily life on this isolated pacific island & with a guaranteed smile !!! spent 12 nights here in Funafuti & this was my first visit & only a handful of genuine tourists. Visited between 31/01/13 to 12/02/13.

    You picked the wettest months to visit Tuvalu. Nice shot of the motor scooters entering then exiting a static frame. More of that would be good. There are many more motor vehicles than I anticipated seeing on a small island. I wonder how the petrol is delivered? Did you visit stores, shops, or petrol stations?

      Gerard Guittat only for the last 100-200 years they have. It was introduced by the Spanish and English. Tuvalu originally had folk law. That a Eel and Flounder created what they knew. But it's said they originated from Taiwan... The tattoos in Tuvalu are similar to native Taiwanese. So Obviously whatever beliefs they had from the Asian roots was lost over time. Or could even be neglected when the Taiwanese first left Taiwan for whatever reason(I'm leaning towards religious reason is why they left)

    How did you get there? I lived in Australia and it was not very easy to reach to Funafuti. Now I'm in Mexico.

      I fly from Sydney to Nadi then to Suva & fly on to Tuvalu for the very first time & spent 12 nights, and then fly back to Suva to Nadi & then after 2 nights in Nadi I fly to Tarawa in Kiribati for 3 wks, I love the pacific islands and have visited 11 countries in this region.
