WE LOVED THE SHOW IN THE 80'S AND 90'S - THEY DON'T MAKE SHOWS LIKE THIS ANYMORE ON AUSTRALIAN TV - VERY SAD - THEY HAVE LOST THE PLOT A LONG TIME AGO !
I really wish we could bring the wheel back on afternoon telly. The shows of today nobody wins anything, no cool prizes or anything. One hour of boredom and no one wins even 1 dollar. This show was 25 mins and people won thousands they should bring it back again
Very nice and fancy set of 1993 very cool and colourful set burgo and Adriana had great talent it’s a shame Adriana never had more opportunities to do more things like host more tv yes ok she went on celebrity big brother and of course she had a stint on burgo catch phrase but she could’ve had her own tv show or something rip Adriana and in the meantime bring back burgo
John: "Your turn to spin, Helen!" Helen: [spins the wheel] John: "$150, Helen" Helen: "Can I get a 'Y' for 'you wouldn't happen to have a volume knob on that enthusiasm, would you?'"
Also: Burgo: "You've got $15,000 to spend Kathy" Kathy: "I'll take the straightened out paperclip.. the.. four pack of AA batteries.. and the sheet of stickers from a kids book where the kid has peeled off half the stickers" Deeksy: "Well Kathy, you'll enjoy this paperclip that has been stretched out, valued at $750, from our secretary's top drawer! You'll also receive this four pack of AA batteries. They're guaranteed to power your camera for 50 photos, valued at $10,000, from Energizer! And finally, this sheet of stickers from a book. They have pictures of barnyard animals on them, and are guaranteed to be minutes of fun for you or your kids, priced at $3,500, from Penguin Books!" Though honestly, I think some of the items are reasonably priced, though the aerobic step and instructional video would be worth $208 in 2022 dollars, and that feels quite expensive for a plastic block and VHS tape..
$900 for a quilt set, $250 for a crappy toy car, a piece of exercise plastic for $100 dollars, and $900 for suitcases?! Jesus christ that is just theft. No wonder my parents over pay for everything
Most homewares and furniture items were made in Australia back then, so the prices were higher but the overall quality was much better. These days, everything is dirt cheap and made in China and you simply throw it out when it inevitably breaks.
Have you seen what goose down quilt sets go for today? And the Delsey hard luggage set is north of 1k AUD today too, prices were certainly higher back then but not theft by any means.
The more I watch these old episodes, the more I think that John and Adriana were better even than Pat and Vanna. Burgo has a very pleasant voice and attitude and Adriana had a very sexy walk, especially when turning around after opening the letters. The prices, however, are ridiculous - why not give people cash? Who cares about some stupid carpet?
@@SamHodkin23 Until July 1996 actually. When the show was moved to Sydney, upon solving a puzzle you were given a prize, and then a few weeks later it got changed even further to the 3 prizes offered, and you chose 1 out of that 3.
I remember coming home from school and watching this most afternoons on TV before Mum made us dinner. Life seemed so much more simple back then.
Rip dear Adriana Xenides. You had a sad ending but remained a lovely & popular person. May u be turning letters around in heaven.

its only sluts and sound bites now
I sure did love this show as a kid!
Bro those prizes are like looking through the window at the Salvos
When contestants land on Lose a Turn in Australia, they play the American Bankrupt sound effect

Bear in mind home living items were a big deal back in the day lol

Australian Wheel had shopping as late as 1994, heck, in Germany it was there until the end of the 90s.

How annoying was Helen!? I'm glad of the outcome of this game.
She was making me cringe the whole time! "P" for Peculiar was a good choice!!
@@AchtungBaby77 "W" for Whackjob would be more accurate lol
There is a rude version on Full Frontal telling the host to shove it where the Sun doesn't shine.
Can I have a H for How Annoying, please?
Yuck.. john burgess
