I'm a South Carolinian. I saw this waterfall 26 years ago when I was a rookie trucker. I never forgot about it.
I spent the first 40 years of my life in Portland, and couldn’t wait to leave. Too much rain, and too many cloudy days. I like the city and all its surrounding natural beauty, but couldn’t take the weather. I sat on I-205 going north at Stark Street (along with hundreds more pulling over) and watch Mt St Helens erupt. Not something I’ll ever forget. If you’re able, go back to the gorge in winter after a deep freeze. Truly magical.
Story about the small park. Portland has dismally dark sky in winter. Thus there is a city ordinance prohibiting any building from casting a shadow on any city park for more than X number of hours per day. Thus preventing skyscraping bldgs near that 24" circular park.

Portland Business Journal, Jan 16, 2000:
"And every lot is situational. Buildings next door to a city park or greenway, for instance, cannot cast shadows on the park between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. from April through August. Yes, it's just that technical."
Thanks for coming to our “hood” Tristan!! In spite of all the bad press and politics, Portland is a beautiful city. I live in the shadow of Rocky Butte and wish I could have met you when you were here! I follow you and love your videos! And we do forgive you for mispronouncing “Willamette”. 😃
I live near hear, it WAS a beautiful city, much of it looks like a war zone now
My kids are fleeing their home in the Powell-Hurst-Gilbert neighborhood at a huge loss.
You are a damn liar. "much of it looks like a war zone" where, give addresses and pictures. Stop spreading the fake news.@@deanfirnatine7814
As long as democrats are in control in that city I won’t be visiting. They spawn evil, chaos and ugly.
I am 63, crossed that waterfall off my bucket list at 19. Yes, It is incredible!!! Here's another bucket list for you... when the falls are covered in snow and ice!
Wow, thank you. On a different note, today is day 12 of being sicker than a dog. Day 10 went to Dr. to find out I have Lyme disease. Please guys put the spray on, if not for you do it for your family. Greg
I'm sorry to hear that, and I agree with your recommendation. Thanks for watching, Greg.
Learning that you liked large cities was an interesting surprise.
There's a time and a place for both wilderness and megacities, just not together! 😁
Thanks! I don’t have health to go to these places I used to go. I now live vicariously thru u.;-)
A Tristan sighting in the wild!
The best thing about Portland is its people; the visionaries who gave of themselves and their wealth to create our public places and those who fight to save the city and its residents today.
The whole west has beautiful nature, I love all things nature and old historic sites. I can't say the same about big cities and being around people.
Started my 11th year of travel on the 11th of June welcome to the best years of your life. Oh by the way I was a Union Carpenter for 36 years.
I was born and raised in Portland metro. I moved away after college, but it always feels like home. I love seeing all the familiar sights and reminiscing.
I love Oregon and have been to the Columbia River gorge to see all the falls. Incredible place.
Very beautiful waterfall and bridge combo 👍
As someone named Willa, the correct Willamette pronunciation was a total surprise! I looked it up, and the word is derived from a Native American word that was transcribed as "Wallamet". Fascinating!
I climbed to the top of Multnomah Falls, nice little hike. This was pre-fire of a few years ago.
I haven't read all of the comments, so if I'm repeating someone's, apologies. Might I suggest visitors to Portland check out the Japanese Gardens and the Rose Gardens. Both are wonderful spots. If you are Catholic, (or even if you're not), The Grotto is a well known shrine with good hiking, a beautiful chapel, and outdoor masses. Lastly, I too actually expect to run into you on the journey someday. Always enjoy your stuff. Stay safe.
Thank you for sharing, you litterally takes us places, I know I may never see👍
Wow! Those mounds do look like glacial rest/melt deposits. Thanks Tristan.👍😏🇨🇦🌲
The lower part of Multnomah falls used to be open to play in until that big rock fell from above. Luckily no one was injured.
Glad you put up the disclaimer on the slaughter of Willamette. Enjoy happy travels!
Enjoyed the interspersed drone footage. Nice of you to visit with your subscriber. Lovely falls with bridge.
so glad you showed us some of Portland…..because I RUN far away from big cities, and even small cities. Give me a home where “the buffalo roam”
Beautiful falls. Very cool meeting one of your followers.
Nick at Home -episode 39 Mimas don’t miss it. He is a geologist in Washington State
Featured in the movie Sleepless in Seattle.
I visited this during a family vacation to the World's Fair in the 60's.
My first solo trip was from the east coast to Portland, OR and I got to visit Multnomah Falls. It was really beautiful.
I’ve been to Voodoo Donuts! Amazing!
So glad you recovered the footage, Tristan. Not your usual fare, but a wonderful string of interesting sights none the less. Thanks for all you do.
Amen Tim!! Wishing you Many Fun Adventures!! 💕 Thanks for Sharing!!
Thoroughly enjoyed yet another adventure
in the footsteps of Tristan. 👣
With your paper towels, consider getting a roll individually wrapped in plastic... cut an "x" in the plastic wrap the size of the cardboard tube.... with a long knife, cut in-between the paper towels and the cardboard.... pull out the cardboard tube.... pull out paper towels from the center. Wa La! You have a FREE paper towel dispenser covered in plastic. Thank you for another fabulous video.
Add to your list: Ramona Falls on Mt. Hood, Barret Spur climb to the ladd/coe glacier views; In May you'll want to hit Tom McCall Preserve in the gorge for sunrise, or Hood River Valley in Bloom (Apple orchards) for sunrise. You also have Bald eagles on the Dalles Dam in January...
I love waterfalls and, that one is beautiful. Thanks for taking me along on your adventures Tristan.
Every video of yours ends up with me adding pins to my saved google maps lists of places to go. Will be checking these out after I'm done with the Cascades this month!
I reckon everyone likes a nicely shaped Mound .. ;)
Wow 2 for 1 in this video, camper tour and sight seeing. Thanks Tristan.
Totally agree with the bacon maple bar experience.
Liked the mounds best. The drone footage was awesome.
That bridge was in the "Pay it Forward" movie, released 20+ years ago.
Donut Nirvana!!!
Tim from Kinosha has a sweet set up. Nice toy hauler with a sleeper...can't get any better. As a Harley rider myself (American Legion) I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on another Harley. Yesterday was my birthday and I'm test riding it today. Multnomah Falls is beautiful and I cannot wait to get into the Northwest to meet some of my favorite You Tubers out there.
I agree, he's got a great setup! Thanks for watching, Alexander. I hope you're able to make it out there soon.
I was just at Multnomah in January 💙💚. Everyone has to go to Voodoo doughnuts in Portland :-)
nice, like falls, bridge, and intrigued by Mima Mounds phenom. Thanks for sharing...
Glad you were in Portland. Welcome!
Thanks for the ride-along, Tristan! The Mango donut sounds fantastic and the bridge in Portland was super cool. So happy you found the recovery software for the footage. It is always a pleasure to get another Tristan video notification!
Loved seeing you exploring Oregon and Washington! I'm born and raised in Washington and there's still so much I haven't seen, so that's on my to-do list for the summer! Thanks for sharing and so glad you were able to recover all the video files! Safe travels!
WoW that aerial shows a Prarie dog city!
Waooo so beautiful water fall thanks for sharing
When I was in high school we cast parts to replace some of the brass lamps at crown point in the gorge. Benson Tech class of 1980. Been to Rocky butte or as we called it "the point", many a time.
Glad you were able to recover all that great footage. Great video as always. : )
Love your videos & appreciate you making / sharing! Know your heading to WA, but if you have not visited Cap Lookout Trail SW of Tillamook you should put on your bucket list. It's a very easy hike on a peninsula that sticks out into the Pacific for about a 1.5 miles (I believe). While I live out of state, i have been fortunate enough to hike many parks to Oregon and other parts of the US - but this hike is my favorite because of the views you get on a clear day! Truly amazing. If you already have a video on this, sorry I have not seen it yet.
No way, my favorite fly fishing channel has a van life channel??
Hey Tim…do you need company??!! 😂
Tristan, you rock the videos!! Great content and your voice is soothing. Keep it up!!
You got my favorite VD Rig of Fire!! I'm local and I can't get enough!
How fun to have Tim come up to our celebrity host Tristan! I agree with you Tim…must enjoy life while we can!
Hey, Tristan! Another great video, thank you. You keep showing us things to add to our bucket lists, which i enjoy and appreciate. Just hope i live long enough to cross most of them off my list! Keep on keepin' on and drive carefully.
Good friends trailer, with the Harley! Beautiful falls! Happy trails to you! Nancy from Canada
Willamette. Rhythms with 'Pill a jet' but sometimes you hear a "lamb" in the middle
Enjoyed your visit to the Portland area. Saw some familiar sites and some not so familiar. Had the good fortune to hike in the Ecola State Park and along the Eagle Creek Trail before the awful fire of 2017. Thanks for sharing your experience in the Portland area.
I enjoyed listening to your guest.
This is a very good video. I like to hear about all your other travels around the world. I'm happy to hear that you also like the big cities, because you are so much alone on these trips in the wilderness. It is nice to hear that you have a balance in your life. I'm a grandma so maybe that's me you just worrying about ya
In today's world it is nice to have videos like this to turn to for Beautiful people, places and things
Hi Tristan, I love following you on your adventures and I especially like your drone shots. Have you ever been to the Alvord desert in South East Oregon? It’s a dry lake bed and there are Hot Springs. My husband used to land sail on the lake bed while he was living.I’m 80 now so I don’t get around much anymore and that’s why I love love love following your adventures it’s filling in many of the things that I missed when I was traveling. The Alvord is different from most of the deserts you’ve shown us. It’s a pretty cool place, I think you would like it.
Thanks Tristan, I've been to these areas I have family that lives up in Portland Oregon, beautiful places.
The biggest city that I've seen is NYC And Brooklyn. The last time I went through NYC I was on I-95. It was night time on the forth and I could see the fireworks!
I've never been to the Northwest. Looks fasinating. Thanks for sharing
Nice Harley. Enjoy the journey
Finally someone with a good bacon opinion! I have said for years that bacon is so over-hyped as an ingredient. It is delicious on its own and should be left as such. Combining it with anything just ruins the bacon (with only one exception: the BLT)
Lots of cool places. I'm happy you were able to recover the video from the SD card. 😎👍☮️
Portland is not really representative of Oregon. It's our most urban city but we're a rural farming/timber state. Check out the John Day fossil beds. I recommend The Painted Hills and Blue Basin. Central and Eastern Oregon have so much more to offer than people think. And our poor forests need a break.
What a small world to meet a subscriber from Wisconsin. I love his attitude and simple set up. L.O.L., worlds smallest park. Love it. The mounds were creepy, but cool and the waterfalls and bridges were calling my name. Thank you for this trip Tristan.
Tim, from Wisconsin! God bless you and Godspeed!
You got there on a good day. I went by on Friday and it was packed! The rest stop was closed/full.
Dude - you continually amaze me with how much you rock your Channel…I love learning more about your personal background, I'm way older than you but my life was full of action and adventure and travel, musch like yours. It's always a breath of fresh air when the old fart gets to witness someone younger going for the "gusto" in life! Rock On, Tristan. "Ol' Scooter" - Down In East Texas...
Great video, thanks Tristan!
Wow those falls were gorgeous. Wrote them down in my “Follow your dreams” book if I ever get out that way. I’m anxiously awaiting to hear what your future travel plans are to be. You mentioned something to be announced soon. Hope I didn’t miss it. Always enjoy your videos Tristan. Stay well and safe. 🤓🇨🇦
Stunning Capture Tristan ! And I thought the "Knock" was going to be unwelcome, but w/your Karma, it's a viewer whose been inspired by your travels ! Carpe' Diem & best of fortune on your adventures !
I agree, I love bacon, I love maple bars but keep them separate. Happy you were in Oregon filming.
I had a great time last October doing the Olympic Peninsula. I got to see a lot but not everything. The tide pools and rain forests were the highlights.
Awesome video!
Great place! Visited a couple times, as My brother lives up there…
The bridge was damaged by a giant rock that fell from the waterfall. I say Bigfoot threw the boulder because the rock had to have gotten a running start to reach the bridge. Blows my mind.
Thanks for sharing this. We're planning a trip to the Olympic area this summer
Loved the video. I used to live near the Mima Mounds so those sights you included are all familiar to me. Even the campsite you showed near the end is probably someplace I have driven by!
OMG Tristan I never would have guessed you for someone who likes "big giant densely populated" places. I live near Portland Oregon and have been there many times, visited the falls numerous times, but I've never heard of Rocky Butte so now I have a new weekend destination. thank you!
Spent a good amount of time up in the Gorge in the 70's, 80's, 90's, and 2000's. So sad to see it burn. I will probably never return
Nice video Tristan!
You must hit up Silver Falls State Park!
Been there many times, although my family and I went up to the top once. So many little falls there and hiking areas! Portland downtown sadly has been destroyed.
Glad to see you took a break after your last video climbing the mountain.
@@SUVRVing BTW that Mount Hood video was one of our favorites. Nice job and you sir are very gutsy...
When I was last at that falls a few years ago, there was someone walking up on the stone railing across that bridge.
Another fabulous video, Tristan! Enjoyed footage of Multnomah Falls, yr donut reviews and the Mima Mounds….are you seeing a lot more people at places you visit? I have heard there is record-breaking attendance at National Parks, Monuments, etc.
Good SAVE!
Those mounds do look like a Prairie dog town...Very interesting. I lost all my photos of the Multnomah falls so I was happy to see it again.
The prairie dog towns I've been to have been all flat, but who knows what those ancient prairie dogs were up to! 😁
I was in Oregon in 2019, I did a few small hikes but I was In a bit of a rush and had to make my way down to CA. Wish I extended my trip looking back and could have taken more time and had a better look around. #nexttime
Glad to see your latest video today - loved getting a laugh from view of the smallest park clip. Glad you were able to salvage your video. Software appears to have worked nicely. Enjoy the NW. Have you done Hwy 12 - scenic byway across Washington or the area around Coulee Dam? Both are great places to visit in Washington. Both are nice alternate and scenic drive back to Idaho in lieu of Columbia River route. Also, liked the tour of another traveler. Cool motorcycle trailer setup.
As a little kid and into my 20's and 30's I loved big cities. Now, as an older guy there's only one thing I love about big cities, and that is leaving them. 🤪 😅 🤪
Same. Moved to NYC at 25, moved back to California at 50. It's way more congested than it was 25 years ago, now thinking of moving to the mountains in Georgia.
To each his own! Thanks for watching.
@@machinethesun9243 Here’s where I plea to not come here and vote for Stacy Abrams and democrats. It’ll just turn into the same shithole you left.
