One day I was listening to Joel and I was under attack from the devil. Joel said "you might be high on drugs right now" no comment, but I have never been the same since that day. Amen God is great. He never left me even when I left myself. I've been clean now for some time but I was 16 last time I was sober. I'm 38 now. Joel speaks the best hope from the Bible. I appreciate that I now know God loves me, and the devil is great at his job. He convinced me I was locked out of Heaven and so I had no reason to quit. GOD used Joel to grab my attention, focus my attention and now I want to help others get free. Chain breaking time !

Kevin Goodman I am going to take this one by one.
Firstly, I try to live my life according to Jesus' teachings and he says in Matthew 22: 36-40 what the greatest commandments are. The fact those scriptures are repeated in Mark and Luke suggests that is important. So I love Joel and all people. My love is not based on who they are or on what they do. Secondly, in Matthew 7 I believe he also says "judge not". If Joel is in it for the money that is between him and God who is the ultimate judge. All I can say is Joel has helped me to understand that God is not as vindictive as most Christians make Him out to be. Lastly, unlike most Christians I don't think pastors are God or messengers of God. Jesus tells us in Matthew 23:8 to call no one 'Rabbi' because we are all 'brothers' and we only have one Teacher. These men and women are not telling you what God has not already told you in the Bible. The writer of Acts commends the Bereans in Acts 17:11. Why? Because they received the message with eagerness BUT examined the scriptures daily. Your pastor should be there to encourage you as a friend or brother would when your walk is difficult. They are NOT there to feed you the Word of God. You are lucky that you can read and write and you can buy a Bible without problems. So make use of that privilege and stop handing over your lives to men.
My pastor and who is my brother in Christ did something that Joel didn't. Study the Bible. Even atheist studied the Bible and have said that Joel is contradicting the Bible. I used to listen to Joel A LOT, then I actually did something in my life.... I studied the scriptures of the old and new testament. Unlike Joel who just takes misleading quotes from a verse instead of reading the whole thing. for example. He quote Roman's: 13:11 " besides that you know the time, that's the hour has come for you to wake up from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed". Now go back to Romans 13:8 it says, " oh no one anything except to love each other for the one who loves another has fulfilled the law. For the Commandments, you shall not commit adultery, you shall not murder, you shall not still, you shall not covet, and any other Commandments are some up in this world. You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love does no wrong to a neighbor therefore love is the fulfilling of the law. Here is now Romans 13:11 " besides this you know the time, that's the hour has come for you to wake up from sleep for salvation is near to us now than we first believed. The night is far gone the day is at hand so then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly as in the daytime, not in orgies and drunkenness, not and sexual immorality and sensuality comma not in curling and jealousy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desire" this from beginning of Romans 13:8 through Romans 13:14 is about Fulfilling the Law Through Love. Not about how it's your high time. And this is me telling you to go please find a REAL pastor to help you read the Bible. Because I do care about you to get the right information.
also my Bible I received as a gift from my pastor who is now my brother in Christ. and no I do not live by men because the people who live by men end up later falling. I listen to the pastor because he teaches me God's word, and not his. People listen to Joel because they don't wanna hear the truth, that we are evil, cruel, terrible people. people don't wanna hear that that can't always get what you want. that God wants to give to the poor and not yourself. to include people who you don't want to be around. no, instead people will buy Joel's books about "How To Live Your Best Life Now". The best life is in Heaven not in this sinful world. And if people do not want to listen to God but the prosperity gospel, then I pray the God will have Mercy! I pray that God has Mercy on me because I sin too!
Why don't you exercise your own calling instead of criticizing others. If some of us are inspired by his teaching then we have reason to listen to him more and more. If you are not inspired, just know his message is not for you or your season. Please get off your feet and do what God called you to do. Joel has done his.
